Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Pet boarding website template: rooms, routine and booking for cats

Built for a small boarding house where cats stay while owners travel. The page covers three room types with a nightly rate each, the evening letters sent home, a pinned timeline of the day, four sitters, the courtyard, a first visit, four house rules, questions and a stay request form. Flat panels of saturated colour sit between heavy black gutters, and as the page opens a black hill climbs over the first screen while the windows of the house switch on. All of it is one index.html; its scroll effects rely on GSAP, ScrollTrigger and Lenis requested from a CDN, and no compile step exists. It comes from 8B, an AI website builder.

Getting the files

npm pack @8bsite/pet-boarding-website-template
tar -xzf 8bsite-pet-boarding-website-template-1.0.0.tgz

The tarball unpacks into package/. Rather skip npm? Run npx degit 8bsite/pet-boarding-website-template my-cattery, or download a ZIP from GitHub. A copy that npm placed in node_modules/@8bsite/pet-boarding-website-template/ should move into your own folder before any edit.

Handing it to a coding agent

Claude Code, Cursor and Codex should begin with AGENTS.md, which names the classes the animations need. Tell the agent your rooms and rates, how many animals you take, drop-off hours, vaccination rules and who cares for the guests. Every pet, sitter, price and address in the demo is made up, so it must ask you rather than fill gaps. The form only validates and thanks the sender; hook it to a form service so requests arrive.

Make this the site for my dog and cat boarding place. Ask me for rates, rooms and staff first.

In the package

  • index.html: the full page
  • AGENTS.md: how an agent should edit the page
  • CREDITS.md: who shot the photos
  • LICENSE: MIT
