Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Repair shop website template: phones, laptops, consoles

A page for a walk-in electronics repair business that wants customers to see the price before they hand over a device. It opens with a wordmark made of rounded dashes that stretches across the screen, then shows a twelve-point free diagnosis, a price wall with bench times for phones, laptops, tablets and consoles, the repair bench, three part grades, five refurbished devices, a weekly pickup route for offices, repair by post, three customer reviews, a FAQ and a booking form. Grey-black and pale grey carry the page, while a vivid blue moves over the checklist, the pickup schedule and the reviews like a text selection. One index.html holds it all, with GSAP, ScrollTrigger and Lenis pulled in from a CDN rather than bundled. It is a free design from 8B, an AI website builder.

How to get it

npm pack @8bsite/repair-shop-website-template
tar -xzf 8bsite-repair-shop-website-template-1.0.0.tgz

The extracted template waits in package/. With degit the call is npx degit 8bsite/repair-shop-website-template repair-site, or download it from the GitHub repo. Should you run npm install instead, take the files out of node_modules/@8bsite/repair-shop-website-template/ and work on your copy.

Let an agent fit it to your shop

Start Claude Code, Cursor or Codex with AGENTS.md; it explains that the price bars and pickup windows are sized from numbers in the markup, and how the dashed wordmark is drawn. Have ready your address and hours, real repair prices and turnaround times, warranty terms, refurbished stock and the areas you collect from. The shop, its prices, phone, reviews and devices on the page are fictional, so the agent must ask you for them. The booking form checks its six fields and shows a confirmation yet nothing leaves the browser until it is hooked up to Formspree, Netlify Forms or your own endpoint.

Use AGENTS.md. Replace the price wall with prices.txt, redraw the wordmark for our name, connect the booking form to Formspree, and list what you still need from me.
