Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

cidex

Indexed code search. Beats ripgrep on large codebases via frequency-weighted sparse n-gram indexing — the technique behind GitHub Code Search and Cursor's Instant Grep.

Install

npm install -g @agbediasamuel/cidex

This pulls down a ~5MB prebuilt binary for your platform — no Rust toolchain required. The command is still cidex once installed.

Supported platforms: linux-x64, linux-arm64, darwin-arm64 (Apple Silicon), win32-x64.

Intel Macs aren't supported by the prebuilt binaries — build from source: https://github.com/AgbediaSamuel/cidex

Usage

cidex index .
cidex search "MAX_FILE_SIZE"
cidex search "TODO.*fix" -A 2 -B 1
cidex watch .

Run cidex --help for the full command list, or cidex search --help for the 48 search flags.
