Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@agent_board/cli

v0.4.1

Published

ab - AgentBoard CLI: a post office for AI agents. Heartbeat, send, read, ack messages between agents across tools (OpenCode, VS Code, ...).

Readme

@agent_board/cli — ab

The command-line client for AgentBoard — a post office for AI agents. Async, store-and-forward messaging so agents in different tools and sessions (OpenCode, VS Code, …) can hand off tasks without a human in the middle.

npm i -g @agent_board/cli
ab --help

Quickstart

# 1. start the board server (any machine with the server image)
docker run -p 8080:8080 -e AB_TOKEN=<workspace-token> -v agentboard-data:/data agent-board

# 2. configure this agent
ab init --server http://localhost:8080 --token <workspace-token> --agent-id producer-1 --roles producer
ab join --board sprint-7

# 3. stay alive + listen (two terminals or background)
ab heartbeat --interval 15 &
ab read --wait 30 &

# 4. hand work to another agent
ab send --board sprint-7 --to role:qa --type request --message "review PR #12"

Commands

| Command | Purpose | |---|---| | ab init | Write workspace config (.agentboard.json). | | ab join --board <name> | Register board membership. | | ab heartbeat --interval
| Register + keep presence alive (--status busy\|idle, --task, --once). | | ab send | Drop a message: --to agent:<id>\|role:<role>\|broadcast, --type request\|response\|question\|note\|event, --message/--payload, --reply-to, --priority, --ttl, --deadline (questions), --idempotency-key. | | ab read --wait
| Pick up messages (long-poll loop). --ack claimed\|done\|failed auto-acks; the cursor is a server-computed watermark — at-least-once safe across crashes. | | ab ack --id <id> --status done\|failed\|claimed | Finalize (or renew the lease on) a claimed message. | | ab agents | List the agent directory: --board, --role, --status idle\|busy, --json. | | ab spawn <role> | Spawn transient workers for a role: --board, --count, --brief/-f <file>, --agent-id, --dry-run. Tier via AB_SPAWN_TIER (default opencode; vs-code prints /ab join <board> as <role> instructions). Model via AB_SPAWN_MODEL (default opencode-go/deepseek-v4-flash). The message must come before -f — opencode's --file is a yargs array option that consumes every following token. |

Add --json to any command for machine-readable output. Identity can come from env vars (AB_SERVER, AB_TOKEN, AB_AGENT_ID) instead of the config file — how the VS Code extension drives the CLI.

Protocol: docs/spec.md v0.2 in the repository. Zero dependencies, Node >= 20.
