Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@agentxm/cli-update

The AXM self-update capability. It answers three questions about the copy of axm running on this machine: which installer owns it, which release the request selects, and what happens when that release is installed.

Installation facts, platform support, version relationships, and upgrade eligibility are owned by @agentxm/cli-maintenance's self-update/domain entry. Its self-update/application entry prepares the upgrade candidate through owned installation-inspection and release-catalog contracts. This package supplies native probes and CLI progress in adapters/ and connects them in composition/. Its remaining installer orchestration and technology mechanisms have not yet been separated into application ports and adapters.

  • Install ownership. Detection across the script installer, Homebrew, npm, pnpm, and Yarn, from executable paths, the module URL, the package-manager user agent, and the recorded install metadata — including the ambiguous case a global-root probe settles, and the conflicting case it refuses.
  • Release selection. The promoted stable channel is the only authority for "latest"; an exact stable version resolves to its immutable release coordinates without any discovery request.
  • The upgrade. Publication availability is established through the owning installer before anything is mutated. Homebrew and the package managers are delegated to and then verified against both the manager-owned executable and the one the PATH selects. The script installer downloads, verifies the checksum and the staged executable's own version report, and replaces the target under its own process lock, restoring the original when anything after the replacement fails.
  • Update-cache storage. Decode and atomically replace the validated channel snapshot through CLI maintenance's UpdateCheckCache contract. Suppression, freshness, notification eligibility, and refresh belong to that capability; notification wording belongs to the CLI.

Every termination resolves to one axm.upgrade-assessment/v1 result carrying ownership, the canonical release, availability, mutation and verification state, the commands that ran, and the recovery the situation admits.

This capability keeps its own upgrade lock and atomic replacement: it acts on an executable outside any workspace, so it is deliberately not a @agentxm/workspace-transactions closure.

Unstable and unsupported — use the axm.sh CLI.
