Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

GnuPG 2.4 for slicc WASIX: gpg, gpgv, gpg-agent, gpgconf, gpg-connect-agent

Readme

@ai-ecoverse/wasix-gnupg

GnuPG 2.4 for the slicc wasm realm (WASIX): gpg (also gpg2), gpgv, gpg-agent, gpgconf and gpg-connect-agent. libgpg-error, libgcrypt, libassuan, libksba and npth are linked in statically.

gpg --batch --passphrase '' --quick-gen-key 'Me <[email protected]>' default default never
echo hi | gpg --clearsign | gpg --verify
git config --global gpg.program gpg && git commit -S -m signed
  • Keyring: ~/.gnupg (or $GNUPGHOME) on the VFS.
  • gpg-agent starts on first use, detached, and later commands reach it through $GNUPGHOME/S.gpg-agent on the realm's loopback namespace. It caches passphrases as usual (default-cache-ttl).
  • Passphrases: there is no pinentry program. gpg defaults to --pinentry-mode loopback and asks on the terminal (/dev/tty), also when git runs it with its stdio piped. Without a terminal (the agent's bash tool), use unprotected keys or --batch --passphrase-fd.

Not included

gpgsm (S/MIME), scdaemon (smartcards), dirmngr (keyservers, CRLs), keyboxd, gpgtar, the WKS tools, TOFU (needs SQLite), compression (--disable-zip: messages from other GnuPGs that are compressed do not decrypt yet).

Known limitations

  • WASIX has no sessions or process groups (setsid/setpgid). A detached gpg-agent stays in the process group of the command that started it, so a ^C to that same foreground job also reaches the agent (it shuts down; the next gpg starts a new one).
  • gpg-agent --daemon PROGRAM (run a program under the agent) needs fork and is not supported.

How it is built

packages/wasix-gnupg/build.sh in homescoop; the patches and upstream tarball checksums ship in patches/ and SOURCES.md.

  • Spawns are posix_spawn (no fork); gpg-agent --daemon detaches by starting itself again.
  • Built against wasix-sysroot 2025.9.30-15 or later, whose libc reports files as the realm user's (GnuPG refuses a homedir it does not own).

License: GPL-3.0-or-later (GnuPG); the libraries' licenses are in licenses/.
