Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@ai-path/tb-data

Index-mapping and data-source binding for Taible. This package decouples the physical order of rows/columns (how data is stored) from the visual order (how it is displayed) so that sorting, filtering, and nested-row grouping can be applied as a view transform without mutating the underlying data. The DataView ties an IndexMapper together for both axes; SortModel and FilterModel are the pure models that drive it.

Install

pnpm add @ai-path/tb-data

API overview

DataView & IndexMapper

DataView maps between visual and physical indices on both axes.

import { DataView } from '@ai-path/tb-data';

const view = new DataView(100, 10); // rowCount, colCount
view.cols.getPhysicalIndex(0); // physical column behind visual column 0
view.rows.getPhysicalIndex(5); // physical row behind visual row 5

Sorting

SortModel holds an ordered list of SortConfigs (each { col, direction }); sortPhysicalOrder produces the resulting physical order. defaultComparator sorts numbers numerically and everything else lexicographically.

import { SortModel, sortPhysicalOrder, type SortDirection } from '@ai-path/tb-data';

const sort = new SortModel();
sort.toggle(2);        // cycle column 2: asc -> desc -> cleared
sort.toggle(0, true); // additive: add column 0 as a secondary sort key
const configs = sort.getConfigs();

Filtering

A ColumnFilter targets one column with one or more FilterConditions combined by a conjunction (default 'and'). matchesCondition is the pure predicate; filteredHiddenRows computes which physical rows are hidden.

import { FilterModel, matchesCondition, type FilterCondition } from '@ai-path/tb-data';

const filter = new FilterModel();
const conditions: FilterCondition[] = [
  { kind: 'gte', value: 18 },
  { kind: 'lt', value: 65 },
];
filter.set({ col: 3, conditions, conjunction: 'and' });

matchesCondition(42, { kind: 'between', min: 0, max: 100 }); // true

Condition kinds include equals, notEquals, contains, notContains, gt/gte/lt/lte, between, empty/notEmpty, and in.

Nested rows

NestedRowModel (with NestedRowNode) models hierarchical, collapsible row trees for grouped/outline views.
