Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Stdio MCP bridge for the AI Collective platform — proxies all tools from the hosted server

Readme

@aicollective/mcp

MCP (Model Context Protocol) bridge for the AI Collective platform. Gives AI assistants access to 55+ tools for managing events, members, teams, venues, tasks, analytics, and more.

Connection Methods

Method 1: Direct HTTP + OAuth (Recommended)

Connect directly to the hosted MCP server — no installation needed. OAuth handles authentication automatically.

Claude Desktop (claude_desktop_config.json):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "aic-platform": {
      "url": "https://platform.aicollective.com/api/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor (Settings → MCP):

  • Type: HTTP
  • URL: https://platform.aicollective.com/api/mcp

Claude Code:

claude mcp add aic-platform --transport http https://platform.aicollective.com/api/mcp

When you first use a tool, you'll be prompted to sign in with your Google account (same as your platform login). The OAuth flow is handled automatically by the client.

Method 2: Stdio Bridge via npm (Alternative)

For clients that only support stdio transport, or when you prefer API-key-based authentication.

Requirements:

  • Node.js 18+
  • An AIC API key (generate one at platform.aicollective.com → Settings → API Keys)

Claude Desktop (claude_desktop_config.json):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "aic-platform": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@aicollective/mcp"],
      "env": {
        "AIC_API_KEY": "aic_your_key_here"
      }
    }
  }
}

Cursor (Settings → MCP):

  • Type: stdio
  • Command: npx -y @aicollective/mcp
  • Environment: AIC_API_KEY=aic_your_key_here

Claude Code:

claude mcp add aic-platform -e AIC_API_KEY=aic_xxx -- npx -y @aicollective/mcp

Available Tools

| Category | Tools | Description | | --- | --- | --- | | Scope | 1 | Your identity, chapters, and permissions | | Events | 10 | List, search, create placeholders, manage tags/team/hosts | | Tasks | 7 | Create, update, assign, and complete tasks | | Members | 2 | Search and view community member profiles | | Team | 2 | List chapter team, search team members | | Event Team | 1 | List event organizers and hosts | | Galleries | 2 | Browse photo/video galleries | | Venues | 2 | Search and view venue details | | Volunteers | 2 | Manage volunteer slots and signups | | KPIs | 4 | Chapter, event, member, and regional statistics | | AI Suggestions | 2 | View AI-generated invite suggestions |

How It Works

The stdio bridge creates a transparent proxy between your local MCP client and the hosted server:

Claude Desktop / Cursor / Claude Code
    ↕ stdio (JSON-RPC)
@aicollective/mcp  (this package)
    ↕ HTTP (JSON-RPC)
platform.aicollective.com/api/mcp  (hosted server)

All tool definitions are fetched from the remote server at startup, so the bridge automatically stays in sync with the latest tools — no package updates needed.

Environment Variables

| Variable | Required | Default | Description | | --- | --- | --- | --- | | AIC_API_KEY | Yes (stdio) | — | Your API key (starts with aic_) | | AIC_BASE_URL | No | https://platform.aicollective.com | Override the server URL |
