Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

JavaScript/TypeScript SDK for the ihyee web intelligence API

Readme

ihyee

npm Node License

JavaScript/TypeScript SDK for the ihyee web intelligence API — search, fetch, and understand any web page in one API call.

Install

npm install @aizukanne/ihyee

Quick Start

import { Ihyee } from 'ihyee';

const client = new Ihyee({ apiKey: 'your_api_key' });
const results = await client.search('transformer architecture', { maxResults: 3 });

for (const item of results.content) {
  if (item.type === 'text' && item.text) {
    console.log(item.text.summary);
  }
}

Search

Search the web via Google and return extracted, summarized content from top results.

const results = await client.search('latest AI research', {
  maxResults: 5,
  contentMode: 'both', // 'both', 'full_text', or 'summary'
  before: '2026-01-01',      // date filters
  mustHave: 'transformer', // exact phrase required
});

for (const item of results.content) {
  if (item.type === 'text') {
    console.log(`URL: ${item.url}`);
    console.log(`Summary: ${item.text?.summary}`);
    console.log(`Links: ${item.text?.links.length}`);
  } else if (item.type === 'image_url') {
    console.log(`Image: ${item.image_url?.url}`);
  }
}

Fetch

Fetch and extract content from specific URLs. Automatically uses headless browser rendering for JavaScript-heavy pages.

const results = await client.fetch(
  ['https://example.com/article', 'https://spa-app.com/page'],
  { contentMode: 'full_text' },
);

Render

Force full browser rendering with Playwright. Use for SPAs and pages that require JavaScript.

const results = await client.render('https://spa-app.com/dashboard', {
  waitFor: 'networkidle',
  waitSelector: '#content',
  timeoutMs: 30000,
});

Error Handling

import { Ihyee, AuthError, RateLimitError, IhyeeError } from 'ihyee';

try {
  const results = await client.search('query');
} catch (e) {
  if (e instanceof AuthError) {
    console.log('Invalid API key');
  } else if (e instanceof RateLimitError) {
    console.log(`Rate limited — retry after ${e.retryAfter}s`);
  } else if (e instanceof IhyeeError) {
    console.log(`API error ${e.code}: ${e.message}`);
  }
}

Environment Variable

# Set IHYEE_API_KEY in your environment
export IHYEE_API_KEY=your_api_key
// Then omit apiKey parameter
const client = new Ihyee();

TypeScript

Full type definitions are included. All response types match the API JSON exactly (snake_case fields). Option parameters use camelCase for idiomatic JS/TS usage.

import type {
  SearchResponse,
  FetchResponse,
  ContentItem,
  TextContent,
  ImageContent,
  DocumentContent,
  ExtractedLink,
  ResponseMeta,
} from 'ihyee';

Requirements

  • Node.js 18+ (uses native fetch())
  • Zero runtime dependencies
