Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Shareable TypeScript configuration presets for Node.js 24 and 26.

Compiler options are defined once, so each tsconfig.json is a one-line extends. Part of the @aklesky/node-presets collection.

Features

  • One preset per Node.js LTS line. node/24.x and node/26.x set target and lib to what that Node.js version runs, so nothing is downleveled for a runtime the project does not target.
  • Strict and explicit. strict, isolatedModules and verbatimModuleSyntax are always on. Type-only imports use import type, so every file compiles on its own with tsc, a bundler or another single-file compiler.
  • Ready for TypeScript 7. The presets only use options that TypeScript 6 and 7 both support.

Installation

pnpm add -D @aklesky/typescript-presets typescript @types/node

Usage

Node.js code:

{
    "extends": "@aklesky/typescript-presets/node/24.x/node.json"
}

A library with declaration files:

{
    "extends": "@aklesky/typescript-presets/node/24.x/build.json",
    "compilerOptions": {
        "outDir": "./dist",
        "rootDir": "./src"
    }
}

Code built by a bundler such as Vite:

{
    "extends": "@aklesky/typescript-presets/node/24.x/bundler.json"
}

Replace 24.x with 26.x for Node.js 26.

Presets

| Preset | Use for | | -------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------- | | node.json | Type checking Node.js code (module / moduleResolution NodeNext) | | build.json | Emitting a library with declaration files | | bundler.json | Code built by a bundler such as Vite (Preserve / Bundler, DOM) |

All presets share shared/base.json: strict, isolatedModules, verbatimModuleSyntax, moduleDetection: force, resolveJsonModule, noUnusedLocals, noUnusedParameters and noFallthroughCasesInSwitch. The node presets set "types": ["node"], so install @types/node for your Node.js version.

TypeScript 7

The presets work with TypeScript 6 and 7. Tools that use the TypeScript API, such as typescript-eslint, still need TypeScript 6, so install both and let tsc run TypeScript 7:

{
    "devDependencies": {
        "@typescript/native": "npm:[email protected]",
        "typescript": "npm:@typescript/[email protected]"
    }
}

The TypeScript configuration reference explains every option.

Compatibility

| Name | Version | | ---------- | ------------- | | TypeScript | 6.0.2 / 7.0.2 | | Node.js | 24.22.1 |

The node/26.x presets type-check with both TypeScript versions.
