Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

OpenCode environment setup with a root server plugin and a composite TUI plugin.

Usage

# Install or update the OpenCode setup
npx @aleee009/opencode-setup install

# Install and download recommended Whisper/VAD models
npx @aleee009/opencode-setup install --download-models

# Verify the environment and report problems
npx @aleee009/opencode-setup doctor

# Remove exactly the entries added by this package
npx @aleee009/opencode-setup uninstall

CLI options

  • --config-dir <path> — Override the discovered OpenCode config directory.
  • --download-models — Download the recommended models during install.
  • --model-cache-dir <path> — Override the model cache directory.
  • --voice-root <path> — Override the voice runtime root directory.
  • --no-backup — Skip timestamped backups before writing config.

Platform support

  • Windows 10+
  • macOS 13+

Linux is not supported in the first release.

Voice runtime

The package owns a portable voice runtime for Windows and macOS:

  • Windows capture uses FFmpeg DirectShow (-f dshow).
  • macOS capture uses FFmpeg AVFoundation (-f avfoundation).
  • Default voice root is <config-dir>/voice/{models,temp}.
  • Override with OPENCODE_SETUP_VOICE_ROOT or --voice-root.

Transcription requires an FFmpeg build with the Whisper filter. The package never installs ffmpeg or operating-system packages silently; run doctor to see actionable instructions when a prerequisite is missing.

Models

Models are not shipped in the npm tarball. install --download-models downloads the recommended/default models and verifies SHA-256 hashes:

  • ggml-large-v3-turbo-q5_0.bin (recommended/default)
  • ggml-silero-v6.2.0.bin (recommended/default VAD)

The optional ggml-small.bin is listed in the manifest but not downloaded by default.

Config files

The installer reads and writes opencode.json, tui.json, and a config-local package.json. JSON and JSONC are parsed; unknown keys are preserved. Comments may be reformatted on write.
