Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

CRED-1: Open Domain Credibility Dataset

CRED-1 is an open, reproducible domain-level credibility dataset combining multiple openly-licensed source lists with computed enrichment signals. It provides credibility scores for 2,674 domains known to publish mis/disinformation, conspiracy theories, or other unreliable content. Community members can report missing domains for inclusion.

📰 Independently reviewed in production use. Mac & i 4/2026 (heise), the German Apple magazine, examined the CRED-1-powered credibility warnings in Trackless Links and confirmed the app checks URLs locally against the open CRED-1 list (2,673 entries at the time of testing). Versioning

CRED-1 uses calendar versioning (CalVer) across all distribution channels:

A new version is released weekly with rescored domains. The npm package updates automatically with each GitHub release — no separate version scheme needed.

Contributing

Know a domain that should be in the dataset? Report a missing domain with evidence.

We accept community-reported domains that meet at least one of these criteria:

  • Listed by Media Bias/Fact Check (MBFC)
  • Flagged by an IFCN-certified fact-checker
  • Subject to press council or regulatory action
  • Documented in Wikipedia with credibility concerns
  • Referenced in published academic research

Accepted domains are added to the pipeline and appear in the next weekly dataset release.

Citation

If you use CRED-1 in your work, please cite both the paper and the dataset version you used. The paper describes the method; the Zenodo record pins the exact data, which is what makes your results reproducible.
