Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

create-starter

CLI tool to scaffold a starter monorepo with selected apps and packages.

Usage

From the monorepo (development)

# Build the CLI
cd packages/create-starter && yarn build

# Run locally
node dist/index.js my-project

# Or use the root script
yarn create my-project

Published (for users)

Once published to npm:

# Using scoped package name
npx @amorga97/create-starter my-project
# or
npm create @amorga97/starter my-project

# Or if you publish with a different name, use that instead

Features

  • Interactive prompts to select which apps to include:

    • Mobile (React Native + Expo)
    • API (Hono)
    • Landing (Next.js)
  • Automatic dependency resolution:

    • packages/shared is always included (required by all apps)
    • packages/email is included if API or Landing is selected
  • Scaffolds a complete monorepo with:

    • Selected apps and packages
    • Root configuration files (turbo.json, .gitignore, etc.)
    • Supabase setup files

Development

Syncing the template

Before testing or publishing, sync the template from the repo root:

cd packages/create-starter
yarn sync-template

This copies the latest apps, packages, and root files into the template/ directory.

Building

yarn build

Compiles TypeScript to dist/.
