Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@animastor/web-ai-chat

Pure AI chat streaming UX helpers for Animastor web frontend.

Scope

This package provides pure functions and types for AI chat streaming UX:

  • sourceBadgeKey — maps ai_source tokens to honest Private/Shared/Cloud/System badge i18n keys
  • streamErrorKey — maps sanitized backend error codes to localized state i18n keys
  • isUserCancelled — distinguishes user-initiated cancel from other aborts

Zero host dependencies. The package imports nothing but its own internal modules. No host stores, no api/client, no i18n, no DOM APIs.

Install

npm install @animastor/web-ai-chat

No peer dependencies required — pure functions and types only.

Usage

import { sourceBadgeKey, streamErrorKey, isUserCancelled } from '@animastor/web-ai-chat';

// Map an ai_source token to a badge i18n key
const badgeKey = sourceBadgeKey('shared'); // 'ai_source_shared'

// Map a backend error code to a localized state key
const errorKey = streamErrorKey('connector_offline'); // 'ai_state_offline'

// Check if the stream was cancelled by the user
const cancelled = isUserCancelled(err, { current: true });

Public API

| Export | Kind | Purpose | |---|---|---| | AiSource | type | 'private-local' | 'shared' | 'cloud' | 'system' | | sourceBadgeKey | function | Maps ai_source token → badge i18n key | | streamErrorKey | function | Maps sanitized backend error code → i18n key | | isUserCancelled | function | Detects user-initiated cancel vs other aborts |

Behavior contract

  • sourceBadgeKey maps only the four known tokens (private-local, shared, cloud, system); unknown tokens return null.
  • streamErrorKey maps only known sanitized backend codes; unknown codes return null (fall back to backend message).
  • isUserCancelled returns true when cancelledRef.current is true OR the error is an AbortError/TimeoutError.

Package boundary

  • The package imports only its own internal modules — zero host imports.
  • @animastor/web-ai-chat → host = forbidden; host → @animastor/web-ai-chat = allowed through the public entry point only.

Development

npm install
npm run typecheck # tsc --noEmit
npm run test # vitest (pure function tests)
npm run build       # tsup → dist/ (ESM + d.ts + sourcemaps)
