Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Material Symbols SVG catalogue (vendor/material-design-icons) with SVG to ICO/ICNS sync for Tauri desktop icons.

Readme

@aphrody/material-design-icons

The full Material Symbols catalogue from the fork vendor/material-design-icons, as plain SVG files (no icon font, no native binding). It feeds every surface that needs real files: Tauri desktop icons, the wxwasm OS, web sprites and the Linux icon theme. In-app runtime icons stay on @aphrody/m3-icons.

The fork holds about 2.1M SVG variants, so a normal checkout is not viable. icons:sync fetches only the wanted blobs and writes them with an exact-path sparse checkout.

| Script | What it does | | ------------------------------------------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | bun run icons:sync | Materialise every symbol x outlined/rounded/sharp x regular/fill at 24px (4 150 symbols, 24 900 files, ~160 MB). --weights 300,500, --sizes 20,40,48, --grades 200,-25 add variants. | | bun run icons:check | Exit 0 when the catalogue is fully materialised. | | bun run icons:export --out dist/icons | Write names.json, six sprite-<style>[-fill].svg sprites and a freedesktop theme (index.theme, scalable/material/* for the whole catalogue, 51 standard names mapped onto it) for GNOME, COSMIC and KDE. | | bun run icons:ico <symbol\|file.svg> --out src-tauri/icons | tauri icon pipeline: icon.ico, icon.icns, PNG set (yolo m3 svg-to-ico; npm bin m3-svg-to-ico). |

import {
  symbolNames,
  readSymbolSvg,
  hasSymbol,
} from "@aphrody/material-design-icons";

symbolNames().length; // 4150
readSymbolSvg("home", "rounded", 400, true);

Windows 11, GNOME Shell, COSMIC and Chromium theme installers live in @aphrody/m3-os-themes; point them at the exported sprite or freedesktop theme.
