Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Fail-safe asynchronous ingestion core for Apirelio Node.js SDKs.

Apirelio Node.js Core

Documentation · npm · Apirelio

Build customer-aware Node.js API monitoring integrations with bounded asynchronous delivery and no payload capture.

Fail-safe asynchronous delivery core shared by the official Express, Fastify and NestJS SDKs. It creates the same customer-aware event contract as the PHP SDKs without capturing bodies, credentials, cookies, query strings, email addresses or IP addresses.

Installation

npm install @apirelio/core

Applications normally install a framework adapter instead of using Core directly.

import { ApirelioClient, installProcessHooks } from '@apirelio/core'

const apirelio = new ApirelioClient({
  apiKey: process.env.APIRELIO_API_KEY ?? '',
  endpoint: process.env.APIRELIO_ENDPOINT ?? 'https://apirelio.com',
  service: 'billing-api',
  environment: 'production',
  release: process.env.APP_RELEASE,
  metadataKeys: ['region'],
})

const removeHooks = installProcessHooks(apirelio)

capture() only validates and enqueues an event. A bounded in-memory queue sends batches in the background every five seconds or after 100 events. Network failures never affect the observed API response. The queue is intentionally bounded; overload drops new telemetry instead of consuming unbounded memory.

Call await apirelio.shutdown() during graceful application shutdown. In serverless runtimes use an external durable queue or explicitly flush before the runtime freezes the process.

Route filtering

Framework adapters use the shared shouldCaptureRoute() matcher. Patterns are either exact paths such as /api/health or bounded prefixes ending in /**, such as /api/**. Exclusions always win; an omitted or empty include list matches every route.

Defaults

| Option | Default | | --- | --- | | endpoint | https://apirelio.com | | batch size | 100 (maximum 500) | | flush interval | 5000ms | | maximum queue | 10000 events | | HTTP timeout | 2000ms | | retries | 2 |

Privacy

Metadata is opt-in through metadataKeys, limited to 20 scalar values and 4 KB. Sensitive key fragments such as authorization, cookie, password, token, secret, email and ip are always discarded. Concrete numeric, UUID, ULID and long hexadecimal route segments are normalized.
