Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.1.9

Published

Vite plugin for WordPress block and theme development with HMR, WP global shimming, and dev-mode env sync.

Readme

@asolopovas/vite-plugin-wp

npm license

Vite plugin for WordPress block/theme builds. It rewrites @wordpress/* imports to wp.*, shims React/lodash to WordPress globals, writes a dev hot file, syncs VITE_MODE, and enables per-block editor HMR.

Requirements

  • Node >=20
  • Vite >=8
  • WordPress page with standard wp.* globals

Install

npm i -D @asolopovas/vite-plugin-wp
bun add -D @asolopovas/vite-plugin-wp

Usage

import { defineConfig } from 'vite'
import wpPlugin from '@asolopovas/vite-plugin-wp'

export default defineConfig({
    plugins: [
        wpPlugin({
            input: ['src/styles/blocks.css', 'src/blocks/index.ts'],
        }),
    ],
})

Your PHP loader should:

  • In dev, read static/build/hot and enqueue @vite/client plus entries from that URL.
  • In prod, read static/build/manifest.json and enqueue built assets.
  • Enqueue JS entries and @vite/client as type="module" scripts.

Behavior

| Feature | Behavior | |---|---| | WP imports | @wordpress/* becomes wp.*; @wordpress/icons stays bundled | | React/lodash | react, react-dom, react/jsx-runtime, lodash, lodash-es resolve to shims | | Block HMR | Entries containing blocks/index, editor, or vite-blocks get registerBlockType HMR wrappers | | Hot file | vite dev writes the dev server URL to static/build/hot and removes it on exit | | Env sync | vite dev sets VITE_MODE=development in .env and restores production on exit | | Aliases | Adds @src, @store, @blocks, @icons, @lib |

Dev import rewrites happen in transform; build rewrites happen in renderChunk so WordPress packages stay external.

Options

| Option | Type | Default | Description | |---|---|---|---| | input | string \| string[] | Vite/Rollup default | Rollup entry points | | outDir | string | static/build | Build output directory | | manifest | string \| boolean | manifest.json | Vite manifest setting | | assetsInlineLimit | number | 0 | Keep assets as files for PHP/manifest loading | | base | string | Vite default | Asset URL prefix | | debugHmr | boolean | false | Log block HMR events | | hmrDebounceMs | number | 100 | Block re-register debounce | | envFile | string | .env | Env sync target | | syncViteMode | boolean | true | Toggle VITE_MODE sync | | hotFile | string | static/build/hot | Dev-server URL file | | editorCss | string | /src/styles/vite-blocks-editor.css | Editor entry stylesheet handled by block HMR |
