Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

npm license

CLI for rn-pushdeck — ship JavaScript updates to React Native apps without going through the Play Store.

Install

npm install -g @asyncarijit/pushdeck-cli
# then anywhere: pushdeck <command>

Or use without installing:

npx @asyncarijit/pushdeck-cli deploy --version 1.0.1 --bundle ./bundle.js --promote production

Build from source

cd D:\codex\rn-pushdeck\cli
npm install
npm run build

Run via:

node dist/index.js <command>

Or link globally so pushdeck works anywhere:

npm link
# now: pushdeck <command>

Usage

1. Get a token

In the dashboard at /dashboard/settings/tokens, click New token. Copy the value once — you can't see it again.

2. Sign in

pushdeck login --token pdkt_xxxxxxxxxxxxx

The token is saved to ~/.pushdeck/config.json (or %USERPROFILE%\.pushdeck\config.json on Windows).

Or skip the config and use an env var:

export PUSHDECK_TOKEN=pdkt_xxx

3. Deploy

pushdeck deploy \
  --project psh_xxxxxxxx \
  --version 1.0.1 \
  --bundle ./index.android.bundle \
  --promote production \
  --notes "Fixed login bug"

| Flag | Required | Description | |--|--|--| | -p, --project <key-or-id> | yes | Project key (psh_xxx) or UUID | | -v, --version <semver> | yes | Bundle version (1.0.1) | | -b, --bundle <path> | yes | Path to the built bundle file | | -a, --assets <path> | no | Path to the assets zip | | --min-native <semver> | no | Minimum APK version this bundle supports (default: --version) | | --notes <text> | no | Release notes | | --promote <channel> | no | Promote to this channel after upload (e.g., production) |

Other commands

pushdeck whoami # verify your token works
pushdeck projects # list projects + current versions
pushdeck logout # delete saved token

Building bundles

The CLI uploads pre-built bundles. To build one in a React Native app:

# Expo
npx expo export:embed --platform android --bundle-output index.android.bundle

# Bare React Native
npx react-native bundle --platform android --dev false \
  --entry-file index.js --bundle-output index.android.bundle

Then pass that file path to pushdeck deploy --bundle.
