Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Atlure domain model: shared entity and value types for the mobile app, the marketing site and the backend

@atlure/types

The Atlure domain model. Shared by the Expo app, the marketing site and the backend so that one definition of a Booking or a Money exists across the whole product.

Types only — zero runtime surface, zero dependencies. A test asserts the compiled module exports nothing at runtime, so this package can never quietly grow logic.

Every loose field from the prototype is tightened

The prototype's model used string for values that are not strings. Fixing that here, before 25 screens depend on it, avoids a migration later:

| Prototype | Here | Why | |---|---|---| | age: string | birthDate: IsoDate \| null | age is derived, not stored; it changes every year | | distance: string | distanceMeters: number | formatting is a UI concern, and it must be sortable | | rate: number | Money { amountMinor, currency } | the market is EU-wide and multi-currency; a bare number has no currency and floats lose cents | | image: string | imageUrl: string \| null | absence is a real state the UI must handle | | serviceDays: string | window: DateRange | two instants, not prose | | duration: string | durationMinutes: number | comparable and computable | | type: string | species: PetSpecies | a closed union, so a typo is a compile error | | serviceType: string | group: ServiceGroup + kind: ServiceKind | the prototype conflated the two |

Roles

A user holds both roles when they choose to. User has an optional sitterProfile and an activeRole that toggles which mode the app is in — not a single fixed role field. Sitters are frequently pet owners themselves, and a young marketplace needs that liquidity.

Public versus private

SitterProfile is the owner's full view. PublicSitterProfile is the deliberately narrower shape the marketing site renders on indexable pages: no contact details, no exact address, nothing from the verification-documents bucket. Keeping them as separate types means an accidental leak on a public page is a type error rather than a privacy incident.
