Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Encode PCM audio samples to AAC (ADTS) format. Browser-only — uses the native WebCodecs AudioEncoder API. Zero bundle cost, hardware-accelerated. Not available in Node.js.

npm install @audio/encode-aac

Browser support: Chromium 94+ and Safari 16+. Firefox does not reliably support AAC encoding via WebCodecs and will throw at init.

Output is raw ADTS-framed AAC — each chunk is a self-contained sequence of ADTS frames playable as .aac. The ADTS header is built from the AudioSpecificConfig (ASC) returned by the browser encoder on the first output chunk.

Why WebCodecs?

No clean-licensed pure-JS/WASM AAC encoder exists — FDK-AAC is patent/Fraunhofer-encumbered. The WebCodecs AudioEncoder API provides hardware-accelerated AAC encoding with zero bundle cost, directly in the browser.
