Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.11.0

Published

Accessible Astro components, sections and pages you copy into your project and own. Tailwind v4, zero JS by default, MIT.

Readme

Apogee

The AVA design system for Astro. Atomic components, sections, and patterns — native to Astro, minimal JS, accessible, ready to compose.

Apogee ships as the default kit inside AVA (Astro Visual Admin) and stands alone as a package you can drop into any new or existing Astro project.

Install (copy-in)

Components are copied into your project and you own the source. Requires Tailwind v4.

npx @ava-ui/apogee create my-site # new Astro + Tailwind site with Apogee set up
npx @ava-ui/apogee init # existing project: tokens + config, added to your stylesheet
npx @ava-ui/apogee add button dialog # copies components (+ their deps)
npx @ava-ui/apogee list # all available components
npx @ava-ui/apogee diff # your copies vs the package, line by line
npx @ava-ui/apogee update # take package changes for files you haven't edited

The CLI sends an anonymous usage event per command (the command, component names, versions). Turn it off with APOGEE_TELEMETRY=0. Details: Telemetry.

add resolves dependencies for you — add data-grid also pulls in Checkbox, and prints the npm packages to install (e.g. @lucide/astro). Files land in src/components/apogee/ (configurable in apogee.json); you own them.

Use

---
import Button from '@/components/apogee/Button/Button.astro'
---
<Button>Get started</Button>
<Button variant="outline" color="neutral" size="large">Docs</Button>

With AVA, Apogee is offered at scaffold time — no separate install.

Status

111 components, 23 sections, 503 blocks and 151 full pages. Pre-1.0: a minor release can change a component's props; the changelog says when.

Docs

apogee.avaui.dev: every component, section and page, with live examples. Each page is also Markdown at its URL plus .md, and llms.txt indexes them for AI tools.
