Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Link

The link component meant for hyper and simple links. Links can be styled via several properties to change their look-and-feel.

All links support the colors "red" and "white" if declared within the variant attribute. See the explanation below.

Properties

variant (Simple Links)

Default color

| Attribute | Details | | ------------------------------- | --------------------------------- | | variant="icon" | Link with an icon displayed | | variant="arrowright" | Link with arrow icon to the right | | variant="arrowleft" | Link with arrow icon to the left | | variant="arrowleft-animated" | Link with animated arrow icon | | variant="arrowright-animated" | Link with animated arrow icon |

Red color

| Attribute | Details | | ----------------------------------- | --------------------------------- | | variant="icon-red" | Link with an icon displayed | | variant="arrowright-red" | Link with arrow icon to the right | | variant="arrowleft-red" | Link with arrow icon to the left | | variant="arrowleft-animated-red" | Link with animated arrow icon | | variant="arrowright-animated-red" | Link with animated arrow icon |

white color

| Attribute | Details | | ------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------- | | variant="white" | Link white | | variant="hyperlink-white" | Link white in lowercase | | variant="hyperlink-white-underline" | Link white in lowercase and underlined | | variant="icon-white" | Link with an icon displayed | | variant="arrowright-white" | Link with arrow icon to the right | | variant="arrowleft-white" | Link with arrow icon to the left | | variant="arrowleft-animated-white" | Link with animated arrow icon | | variant="arrowright-animated-white" | Link with animated arrow icon |

href

The string-valued attribute href is used like in a native <a> hyperlink.

external

The Boolean attribute external adds the target="_blank" functionality.

icon

If the variant is icon, using the attribute icon's string value as icon name, an icon will be rendered. The attributes variant=icon and icon=xyz both need to exist in order for an icon to be displayed. To see the full list of possible icons and custom icon usage, see the axa-icon readme. The dimensions of the icons depends on icon component. Because of this its possible that some icons are bigger than the link text.

If you set an icon, the component will be displayed as a block element and loses its inline behavior.

onClick

On a React-ified component this function-valued attribute can be used as a callback function. Using it will prevent default link navigation. Click event object is passed as argument. This allows the consumer to stopPropagation() of the event.
