Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ESLint flat config preset for NestJS 11 APIs: documentation rules and layer boundaries

ESLint flat config preset for NestJS 11 APIs: documentation rules and layer boundaries. ESLint 9 and 10 supported.

Installation

bun add -D eslint @bitforgehq/eslint-config-nestjs

That's it — @darraghor/eslint-plugin-nestjs-typed, typescript-eslint, @eslint/js, and eslint-config-prettier are bundled as dependencies of this package.

Requirements

  • NestJS 11
  • ESLint ^9 or ^10
  • A valid tsconfig.json covering every linted file (type-checked rules use the ESLint project service)

Usage

Create eslint.config.js in your project root:

export { default } from '@bitforgehq/eslint-config-nestjs';

What's enabled

  • @eslint/js recommended, typescript-eslint recommended + stylistic (type-checked)
  • Documentation rules as errors — the OpenAPI document is written by hand, so the Swagger CLI plugin stays off:
    • api-method-should-specify-api-response — every operation documents a response
    • controllers-should-supply-api-tags — every controller carries @ApiTags
    • api-property-matches-property-optionality — @ApiProperty optionality matches the TypeScript property
    • validated-non-primitive-property-needs-type-decorator and validate-nested-of-array-should-set-each — validated DTOs carry @Type and { each: true }
  • House rules as errors: no console.log (only console.error is allowed), inline type imports, _-prefixed unused-var escape hatch; @typescript-eslint/unbound-method is off in test/**, *.spec.ts and *.e2e-spec.ts
  • Layer boundaries as no-restricted-imports — four mutually exclusive blocks, so every file is matched by exactly one of them (flat config replaces a rule's options rather than merging them):
    • *.controller.ts may not import a repository (its own feature's included), the Firebase SDK, or another feature's *.service/*.repository — and that cross-feature ban covers firebase/ and firestore/ too, so a controller cannot reach FirestoreService or FirebaseAdminService. Only ../config/* and ../logger/* are exempt.
    • *.service.ts (outside firebase/ and firestore/) gets the same cross-feature ban with the same two exemptions, plus the Firebase SDK ban. A service goes through its own repository.
    • *.repository.ts, *.converter.ts, *.probe.ts may use the Firebase SDK — they are the layer that talks to Google Cloud — but may not import another feature's *.service/*.repository. ../config/*, ../logger/*, ../firebase/* and ../firestore/* are exempt.
    • Everything else (modules, guards, decorators, DTOs, entities, main.ts) may not import the Firebase SDK and may not import another feature's *.service/*.repository, with the same four exemptions as the previous block — a module or a guard legitimately wires FirebaseAdminService up.
    • Files under firebase/ and firestore/ are the infrastructure and stay unrestricted. test/**, *.spec.ts, *.e2e-spec.ts and scripts/** are outside the layering and are exempt from every block.
    • The exemptions reach up to three directories, so a nested file such as notes/handlers/x.service.ts may import ../../logger/logger.service while its ../../auth/auth.service is still an error.
  • eslint-config-prettier last — formatting stays Prettier's job

Customization

import baseConfig from '@bitforgehq/eslint-config-nestjs';

export default [
  ...baseConfig,
  {
    files: ['**/*.ts'],
    rules: {
      // project-specific overrides
    },
  },
];
