Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.2.1

Published

In-app product issue reporter: header chrome, short AI triage, PII-safe generalization, and a host-owned issue publisher.

Readme

@braedonsaunders/appkit-feedback

An in-app product issue reporter. The package owns the header control, the modal, short triage, PII redaction, and a GitHub Issues adapter. The host owns the model, help source, secrets, persistence, and egress.

This is product-bug reporting, not a helpdesk and not a second assistant. The person types what went wrong. A scoped agent either answers from host help, asks at most two questions, or files a generalized issue.

pnpm add @braedonsaunders/appkit-feedback @braedonsaunders/appkit-ui

Import @braedonsaunders/appkit-feedback/styles.css beside the AppKit UI stylesheet so Tailwind scans the React entry.

import { createHttpFeedbackClient } from '@braedonsaunders/appkit-feedback'
import { FeedbackLauncher } from '@braedonsaunders/appkit-feedback/react'

const client = createHttpFeedbackClient({ url: '/feedback/turn' })

export function HeaderActions({ pathname }: { pathname: string }) {
  return <FeedbackLauncher client={client} context={{ pathname }} />
}

Place FeedbackLauncher in AppShell's header slot. It works in both topbar and sidebar navigation because it is chrome, not a nav item.

Host-owned boundaries

  • route authentication and feedback.use authorization
  • the language model and tenant AI policy
  • help search/read tools (manual, docs, status page)
  • sealed destination credentials
  • outbound HTTP to the issue tracker
  • audit and any conversation persistence

The package never fetches the public internet. Pass request into createGithubIssuePublisher.

import { createFeedbackTools, createGithubIssuePublisher, feedbackSystemPrompt } from '@braedonsaunders/appkit-feedback'

const publisher = createGithubIssuePublisher({
  owner,
  repo,
  token,
  labels: ['feedback'],
  request: hostEgressRequest,
})

const tools = createFeedbackTools({
  knowledge: hostHelp,
  publisher,
  context,
  redact: { denyList: [userName, userEmail, tenantName] },
})

submit_issue redacts emails, phones, record ids, query strings, and the host deny list before the publisher runs. The model may see the original report; the filed issue does not.

Settings

FeedbackSettingsForm is a controlled operator form. The host saves. There is no package-owned table in this version.
