Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@braedonsaunders/appkit-notifications

v3.0.0

Published

Production inbox, preferences, push enrollment, tenant routing cockpit, multi-channel runtime, and optional Drizzle adapters.

Readme

@braedonsaunders/appkit-notifications

Production notification infrastructure and user interfaces that applications can adopt independently: multi-channel policy and dispatch at the root, the complete inbox and administration surfaces under /react, tenant-safe Drizzle persistence under /drizzle, digest scanning under /digest, and Web Push lifecycle under /push.

Install

pnpm add @braedonsaunders/appkit-notifications

The root has no runtime dependencies. Add React/UI, Drizzle/database, jobs, or Web Push dependencies only when the corresponding entry point is used.

Production surfaces

  • NotificationInbox — the responsive three-pane inbox with smart folders, category folders, search, to-dos, cursor paging, optimistic actions, reading pane, mobile drawers, retry states, and loading skeleton.
  • ProductionNotificationPreferences — the complete category/channel matrix; absent cells default enabled exactly like the production dispatcher and the save adapter receives the complete bounded matrix.
  • PushDeviceNotifications — browser/OS capability detection, iOS Home Screen guidance, permission, subscription persistence, test delivery, expiry-safe disable behavior, and all production states.
  • NotificationSettings — tenant routing policy, transport readiness, digest delivery, quiet hours, automatic scan cron/timezone, per-category enablement, roles, people, groups, channels, escalation ladders, dirty state, and atomic save boundary.

Applications supply their real category catalogue, recipient catalogue, authorized persistence adapters, transport configuration routes, credentials, and delivery providers. No application category or role vocabulary is bundled.

Persistence and jobs

@braedonsaunders/appkit-notifications/schema owns notifications, preferences, subscriptions, tenant policy, and per-category settings. @braedonsaunders/appkit-notifications/drizzle provides inbox, preferences, configuration, dispatch, and subscription stores bound to an application-owned RLS database handle.

The source-compatible BullMQ NotifyJobData and PushJobData contracts, validation, deterministic recipient batching, queue names, retry schedules, and retention settings live at @braedonsaunders/appkit-jobs/notifications.

import { createJobs } from '@braedonsaunders/appkit-jobs'
import { createNotificationQueues } from '@braedonsaunders/appkit-jobs/notifications'

const queues = createNotificationQueues(createJobs({ redisUrl: process.env.REDIS_URL! }))

await queues.enqueueNotification({
  tenantId,
  userIds,
  category: 'records',
  type: 'record.updated',
  title: 'Record updated',
  linkPath: `/records/${recordId}`,
})

Application boundaries

The package owns the inbox, preference matrix, push enrollment, routing cockpit, schedule grammar, policy schema, notify/push queue profiles, digest behavior, and Web Push handling. Framework routing, application categories, domain recipient queries, credentials, and provider delivery remain typed host boundaries.
