Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Bragbooq MCP server - capture professional achievements with AI assistants

Readme

@bragbooq/mcp

Bragbooq MCP server - capture professional achievements automatically with AI assistants like Claude, Cursor, and Windsurf.

What it does

When you tell your AI assistant about something you accomplished, it automatically captures it as a "brag" in your Bragbooq account:

You: "Finally shipped the new checkout flow - conversion is up 15%!"

Claude: "That's a great result! I've captured that as a brag for you. ✓
        A 15% conversion improvement is excellent material for your
        next performance review."

Installation

# Install globally
npm install -g @bragbooq/mcp

# Connect your Bragbooq account
bragbooq login

# See setup instructions for your AI assistant
bragbooq setup

Setup

Claude Code (recommended for npx)

Add to .mcp.json in your project or ~/.claude/settings.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "bragbooq": {
      "type": "stdio",
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "-p", "@bragbooq/mcp", "bragbooq-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop (global install)

First install globally: npm install -g @bragbooq/mcp

Add to ~/.claude/claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "bragbooq": {
      "command": "bragbooq-mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor

Add to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "bragbooq": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "-p", "@bragbooq/mcp", "bragbooq-mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Or if globally installed (npm install -g @bragbooq/mcp):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "bragbooq": {
      "command": "bragbooq-mcp"
    }
  }
}

ChatGPT Apps SDK (HTTP transport)

For ChatGPT integration, run the HTTP server:

# Start the HTTP server
bragbooq-server --port 3001

# Or use environment variable
PORT=3001 bragbooq-server

Configure your ChatGPT App to use:

  • MCP URL: https://your-domain.com/mcp
  • Auth: Bearer token in Authorization header

For local development, use a tunnel like ngrok:

ngrok http 3001
# Then use the ngrok URL in your ChatGPT App config

Windsurf / Other MCP Clients

Any MCP-compatible client can use:

  • stdio: bragbooq-mcp command
  • HTTP: bragbooq-server at /mcp endpoint

Then restart your AI assistant.

Available Tools

The MCP server provides these tools to AI assistants:

| Tool | Description | |------|-------------| | bragbooq_add_brag | Capture a new achievement | | bragbooq_list_brags | View recent brags | | bragbooq_edit_brag | Update an existing brag | | bragbooq_delete_brag | Remove a brag | | bragbooq_polish_brag | AI-enhance a brag | | bragbooq_generate_summary | Create review/resume content | | bragbooq_get_skills | View skills from brags | | bragbooq_status | Check connection status |

CLI Commands

bragbooq login # Connect your account
bragbooq logout    # Disconnect
bragbooq status    # Check connection
bragbooq setup # Show config instructions
bragbooq help      # Show help

How it works

  1. You tell Claude about an achievement - "Fixed that memory leak that was causing 30% CPU spikes"

  2. Claude recognizes it as a brag - Uses the bragbooq_add_brag tool

  3. It's saved to Bragbooq - Title, description, skills, and impact are captured

  4. Use it later - Generate performance reviews, resume bullets, or LinkedIn posts

Example Conversation

You: "Spent all week on that auth refactor but finally got it merged.
      Reduced our auth code by 40% and fixed 3 security vulnerabilities."

Claude: "That's impressive work! I've logged this to Bragbooq:

        ✓ 'Completed auth system refactor with 40% code reduction'

        Skills: Security, Refactoring, Code Quality

        Fixing security vulnerabilities while reducing complexity is
        exactly the kind of thing to highlight in reviews."

You: "What have I accomplished this month?"

Claude: [Lists your brags from Bragbooq]

        "Here's your December:
        1. Auth refactor (40% code reduction, 3 security fixes)
        2. Checkout flow launch (15% conversion improvement)
        3. Memory leak fix (30% CPU reduction)

        Want me to generate a summary for your 1:1?"

Privacy

  • Your brags are stored in your Bragbooq account
  • The MCP server runs locally on your machine
  • Authentication tokens are stored locally in ~/.config/bragbooq
  • No data is shared with third parties

Troubleshooting

"Not authenticated" errors:

bragbooq login

MCP not loading:

  1. Check config file path: bragbooq setup
  2. Ensure bragbooq-mcp is in your PATH
  3. Restart your AI assistant

Check status:

bragbooq status
