Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@braidlabs/angular-core

v0.1.1

Angular DI and signal wrappers for @braidlabs/skew versioned stores.

Readme

@braidlabs/angular-core

First-class Angular bindings for @braidlabs/skew.

This package provides the baseline Dependency Injection (DI) and reactive Signal wrappers needed to integrate @braidlabs/skew's versioned stores seamlessly into an Angular application.

Quick Start

1. Provide the Store

Instead of manually instantiating VersionedStore instances inline, use createSkewStoreToken and provideSkewStore to configure it at the application or route level.

import { createSkewStoreToken, provideSkewStore } from '@braidlabs/angular-core';
import { webStorageDriver } from '@braidlabs/skew';

// Create a typed InjectionToken
export const USER_STORE = createSkewStoreToken<UserProfile>('USER_STORE');

export function provideUserStore() {
  return provideSkewStore(USER_STORE, UserProfileSchema, {
    driver: webStorageDriver('local'),
    keyPrefix: 'app-users'
  });
}

2. Consume via Signals

@braidlabs/skew operations return Promise<SkewResult<T>>. While this works perfectly for standard async flows, it can cause a flash of empty state in the UI if you are using a synchronous storage driver (like localStorage).

injectSkewSignal() solves this by synchronously peeking at the store to initialize the Signal. It automatically triggers a background resolution if the driver is asynchronous or if the cached data needs to be migrated.

import { Component } from '@angular/core';
import { injectSkewSignal } from '@braidlabs/angular-core';
import { USER_STORE } from './providers';

@Component({
  template: `
    @if (user.loading()) {
      <p>Loading...</p>
    } @else if (user.error()) {
      <p>Error migrating data: {{ user.error()?.message }}</p>
    } @else if (user.data()) {
      <h1>Hello, {{ user.data()?.name }}</h1>
      <button (click)="updateName('Fin')">Change Name</button>
    }
  `
})
export class UserProfileComponent {
  // Returns { data, error, loading, set, reload }
  user = injectSkewSignal(USER_STORE, 'me');

  async updateName(name: string) {
    // Optimistically updates the signal and safely writes to the versioned store
    await this.user.set({ name });
  }
}

3. Consume the Raw Store

If you need to perform manual queries or handle SkewResult directly (e.g. inside an Angular service or router guard), use injectSkewStore().

import { Injectable } from '@angular/core';
import { injectSkewStore } from '@braidlabs/angular-core';
import { USER_STORE } from './providers';

@Injectable({ providedIn: 'root' })
export class SyncService {
  store = injectSkewStore(USER_STORE);

  async checkData() {
    const result = await this.store.get('me');

    if (!result.ok) {
      if (result.reason === 'ahead') {
        console.warn('Data was written by a newer version of the app. Need to update.');
      } else {
        console.error('Migration failure', result);
      }
    }
  }
}
