Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@canonry/val-kit

The host-agnostic core shared by Canonry's public Val Town samples.

Each val is its own product with its own surface — its own name, pages, MCP tools, and copy. What they have in common is everything underneath: the AI-visibility engine, the admission and lease machinery that bounds what an anonymous visitor can spend, the check stores, the MCP wire format, and the design tokens. That is this package, so there is one source of truth instead of one per val.

It is pure and portable: no HTTP framework, no crawler, no Deno global, no esm.town import. Everything that touches a host — the request handler, the SQLite binding, the environment — is passed in.

Install

npm install @canonry/val-kit

A Val Town val ignores import maps, so import it by fully-qualified specifier:

import { runVisibilityProbe } from 'npm:@canonry/[email protected]/visibility'

Subpaths

| Subpath | What it holds | | --- | --- | | @canonry/val-kit | Everything below, in one import | | @canonry/val-kit/visibility | Probe contracts, brand/citation matching, the evidence runner, share of voice, and the Gemini adapter | | @canonry/val-kit/perception | Branded query planning, verdict extraction with verbatim-evidence verification, source typing, and aggregation | | @canonry/val-kit/security | Public-domain normalization (the SSRF input boundary) and Turnstile human verification | | @canonry/val-kit/storage | MemoryCheckStore and ValSqliteCheckStore (over a ValSqliteClient the host supplies) | | @canonry/val-kit/jobs | Check record and store contracts, record identity and expiry, and the admission/lease machinery | | @canonry/val-kit/mcp | Model Context Protocol framing plus the bundled Canonry skills served as resources | | @canonry/val-kit/ui | Design tokens and the Canonry mark | | @canonry/val-kit/config | Host environment parsing |

Requires Node 22 or newer, or any runtime with the same web standards (fetch, AbortSignal, crypto). @google/genai is a peer of the visibility subpath and is installed with the package.
