Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Leaf Memory

Match pairs of tropical leaves before the timer runs out. A first-party game on the Caputchin marketplace.

How to play

  • It's a level ladder. You start on a small 2×2 board (2 pairs). A brief peek reveals the leaves (about 0.4s on the smallest board, up to ~1.2s on the largest), then they cover and the timer starts.
  • Tap or click a card to flip it. Matching pairs stay face up; a mismatch flips back after about 0.6s.
  • Clear a level before the timer empties to advance. Boards and budgets grow each level, up to a 3×4 board (6 pairs, 12 cards) with a 30-second budget. Out of time? Retry the level, or drop to an easier one.

Scoring

Faster clears score higher: your score grows with the time left on the clock when the board is cleared. Scores sit on Leaf Memory's own scale and compare against other Leaf Memory runs, not across different games.

| Result | Score | |---|---| | Cleared with lots of time left | highest | | Cleared right at the buzzer | zero | | Timed out | no score, just a replay |

Accessibility

  • Full keyboard play: Tab and the arrow keys move focus, Space or Enter flips the focused card.
  • Screen-reader friendly: the board is a labelled grid and a live region announces match, no match, round passed, and out of time.
  • Respects reduced motion: flip and timer animations are skipped when your system asks for it.

Add it to your site

Leaf Memory runs as a sandboxed widget behind a Caputchin verification check, and ships in English and Arabic with light and dark skins. Preview it live and copy the embed snippet (with locale, skin, and difficulty presets) from its marketplace listing.
