Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Angular wrapper for gcds-components

Readme

La version française suit.

GC Design System Components – Angular

To make it easier to integrate GC Design System web components into Angular projects, the gcds-components-angular package provides Angular wrappers.

These wrappers make it easier to work with web components in the Angular ecosystem by preventing unnecessary repaints through detached change detection, and enabling form controls to work with ngModel and reactive forms.

The web components inherit native properties and interoperability.

Documentation

You can find the full documentation for GC Design System Components on https://design-system.alpha.canada.ca/.

Angular installation instructions

Follow these steps to install and use GC Design System components in your Angular project.

1. Install the package

Navigate to your project’s root folder and run the following command:

npm install @cdssnc/gcds-components @cdssnc/gcds-components-angular

2. Import GC Design System

Place the following code in the app.module.ts file of your app:

import { GcdsComponentsModule } from '@cdssnc/gcds-components-angular';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    ...
  ],
  imports: [
    ...,
    GcdsComponentsModule
  ],
  providers: [],
  bootstrap: [...]
})
export class AppModule { }

Place the following code in the styles.scss file of your app to import GC Design System styles:

@import '../node_modules/@cdssnc/gcds-components/dist/gcds/gcds.css';

3. Start building

Once you've installed the design system, start building! Browse our available components and templates to pull the code you need into your project.

Using GC Design System components with RouterLink

To use routerLink with GC Design System components simply add the routerLink attribute to the elements as you normally would. With components that contains multiple links within their shadow-dom (e.g., gcds-pagination, gcds-footer) and not one clear path when selected, add gcdsRotuerLink to allow the component to interface with the Angular router.

RouterLink and gcdsRouterLink examples

RouterLink example

<gcds-link href="/home" routerLink="/home"> Home </gcds-link>

GcdsRouterLink example

<!-- GCDS Router link example -->
<gcds-pagination
  display="simple"
  label="Pagination"
  previous-href="/page1"
  previous-label="Page 1"
  next-href="/page3"
  next-label="Page 3"
  gcdsRouterLink
>
</gcds-pagination>

import { GcdsComponentsModule } from '@cdssnc/gcds-components-angular';

@NgModule({
  declarations: [
    ...

<gcds-link href="/accueil" routerLink="/accueil"> Accueil </gcds-link>

Exemple de GcdsRouterLink

<gcds-pagination
  display="simple"
  label="Pagination"
  previous-href="/page1"
  previous-label="Page 1"
  next-href="/page3"
  next-label="Page 3"
  gcdsRouterLink
>
</gcds-pagination>
