Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Cerebral estate agent skills: one install for every harness, on both sides of WSL

Readme

@cerebral-work/skills

One install for agent skills across every harness on a machine, including both sides of a WSL setup.

npx @cerebral-work/skills # install (default)
npx @cerebral-work/skills doctor # report drift; exit 1 on drift
npx @cerebral-work/skills uninstall # remove what it installed; edited copies are kept

The package is public and contains only the installer. The skills themselves are fetched at install time from a git repository you can read (default: [email protected]:unsigned-gg/agentic.git, packages/skills/skills/), using your own SSH key. With gh credentials instead, run gh auth setup-git and pass --repo https://github.com/unsigned-gg/agentic.git. Without access, nothing is installed.

What install does

  1. Linux: copies each skill into ~/.agents/skills/<name> as a real directory, recorded in .cerebral-skills-manifest.json, then symlinks it into every agent harness whose root directory exists: Claude Code (~/.claude), pi (~/.pi), opencode (~/.config/opencode), hermes (~/.hermes), omp (~/.omp). Gaps in omp's includeSkills allowlist are reported, and --write-omp appends them.
  2. Windows, when run from WSL: finds the Windows profile and copies the portable skills into %USERPROFILE%\.claude\skills as real files, with their own manifest. Windows cannot follow WSL symlinks reliably, so nothing there is a link. synced\, which claude.ai manages, is never touched.
  3. Ownership: a skill directory the installer did not write is replaced only when it is byte-identical (adopted) or with --adopt (the old copy is backed up first). A directory it wrote and someone edited is replaced only with --force.

A skill is portable unless its frontmatter declares metadata.platforms: [linux]. With no declaration, a skill that mentions a Linux-only tool (kubectl, systemctl, journalctl, ~/.local/bin, /proc/, …) stays on the Linux side.

Options

| Flag | Meaning | |---|---| | --dry-run | print what would change, write nothing | | --from <dir> | install from a local directory instead of fetching | | --repo <url> / --ref <branch\|tag> | where to fetch from (also CEREBRAL_SKILLS_REPO) | | --adopt / --force | replace foreign / locally edited skill directories | | --write-omp | append missing skills to omp's allowlist | | --home <dir> / --windows-home <dir> / --no-windows | targets |

Development

pnpm test runs the installer against sandboxed Linux and Windows homes. skills/ holds the content and is not part of the npm package; see skills/README.md.
