Portable Claude Code workflow for any project. Install coordinator prompts and subagents with one command — no copy-paste.

Quick start

# In any project root
npx @chinjanpatel/claude-workflow init

This installs:

• CLAUDE.md — shared coordinator instructions
• .claude/settings.json — default plugin config
• .claude/agents/*.md — backend, frontend, rules-engine, code-reviewer, report-generator

And bootstraps local-only files (created once, never overwritten on update):

• CLAUDE.local.md — your project-specific rules
• .claude/settings.local.json — your plugin overrides
• .claude/agents-local/ — extra project-specific agents

Update shared workflow

npx @chinjanpatel/claude-workflow update

Managed files are refreshed from the package. Local overrides are preserved.

Use --force to overwrite existing managed files, or --dry-run to preview changes.

Local override convention

Put anything project-specific in local files so you can update the shared workflow safely:

The installed CLAUDE.md instructs agents to read CLAUDE.local.md before starting work.

Version lock

After install/update, .claude/workflow-version.json records the installed package version and managed paths.

Versioning policy

• Major — breaking changes to agent contracts or managed file structure
• Minor — new agents or safe workflow improvements
• Patch — typo fixes, clarifications

Migrate an existing project

1. Move project-specific content from CLAUDE.md into CLAUDE.local.md.
2. Run npx @chinjanpatel/claude-workflow init --force to replace managed files.
3. Keep custom agents in .claude/agents-local/ or merge into managed agents if they're generic enough for the package.
