Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.3.0

Published

A fast, static documentation builder for Markdown and MDX with Monoline's accessible interface.

Readme

Monoline Docs

Build static documentation from Markdown and MDX for libraries, SDKs and API products. Includes navigation, local search, light/dark themes, highlighted code, authoring components, OpenAPI reference generation and Markdown/AI exports.

Installation

Use Node.js 24.14 or newer. In a new or existing project directory:

npm install @chitrank2050/monoline-docs
npx monoline-docs init
npm run dev

For pnpm, use pnpm add @chitrank2050/monoline-docs, pnpm exec monoline-docs init and pnpm dev.

Open the address printed in your terminal and edit content/index.md. Initialization creates the homepage, monoline-docs.yml and build/dev scripts. It preserves existing package metadata and refuses conflicting files or scripts.

Write and publish

Create another page in content/:

title: Installation
description: Set up your project.

## Install

Describe your project's installation steps here.

Set your publishing origin in monoline-docs.yml:

title: Team handbook
site: https://docs.example.com

Run npm run build to generate static output in dist. Deploy that directory to your static host. See deployment recipes for root/subpath layouts and migration guidance when replacing an existing site.

Guides and reference

Using with AI agents

The package ships skills/monoline-docs/SKILL.md. Ask your agent to read that installed file, or copy its folder into the agent's supported skills directory. Installation does not automatically enable the skill; keep copied instructions aligned with the installed package version.

Use generated page Markdown exports, llms.txt or llms-full.txt as reference. See the agent guide and maintained skill.

Requirements

  • Node.js 24.14 or newer; npm is supported, JSR is not.
  • React 19 and React DOM 19 only for hydrated React islands.
  • A published content/index.md or content/index.mdx homepage.

The initializer adds a hint for the installed YAML configuration schema. Basic reading and navigation work without JavaScript; search, copying and interactive examples use browser scripts.

Package entry points

  • @chitrank2050/monoline-docs: configuration and content utilities.
  • @chitrank2050/monoline-docs/build: programmatic production builds.
  • @chitrank2050/monoline-docs/dev: local preview server.
  • @chitrank2050/monoline-docs/components/*.astro: authoring components.
