Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Curated collection of ChSON cheatsheets — structured JSON data files for developer reference.

This is a data package. It contains .chson.json files (cheatsheets, runbooks, checklists, TLDRs, and bookmarks), not executable code.

Install

npm install @chson/registry

Usage

Discover available cheatsheets

The package exports an index.json manifest listing all available cheatsheets:

import index from "@chson/registry" with { type: "json" };

console.log(index.count);        // 9
console.log(index.cheatsheets);  // [{ product, name, path, title, ... }, ...]

Each entry in index.cheatsheets contains:

| Field | Description | |-------|-------------| | product | Product/tool grouping (e.g. "git", "docker") | | name | Cheatsheet name (e.g. "core", "rebase-tldr") | | path | Relative path to the file within the package | | title | Human-readable title | | description | Brief summary (max 150 chars) | | version | Subject matter version (e.g. "2.x") or null | | publicationDate | ISO date string | | documentType | "cheatsheet", "checklist", "runbook", "tldr", "bookmarks", or null | | retrievalDirection | "mechanism-to-meaning" or "intent-to-mechanism", or null | | tags | Array of keyword strings |

Load a cheatsheet

import cheatsheet from "@chson/registry/cheatsheets/git/core.chson.json" with { type: "json" };

console.log(cheatsheet.title);    // "Git Essentials"
console.log(cheatsheet.sections); // [{ title, entries: [{ anchor, content }, ...] }, ...]

Resolve a cheatsheet path from the manifest

import { createRequire } from "node:module";
import index from "@chson/registry" with { type: "json" };

const require = createRequire(import.meta.url);
const entry = index.cheatsheets.find(c => c.product === "git" && c.name === "core");
const cheatsheet = require(`@chson/registry/${entry.path}`);

Available Cheatsheets

| Product | Name | Type | Title | |---------|------|------|-------| | atuin | keybindings | — | Atuin Keybindings | | devops | release-checklist | checklist | Release Checklist | | docker | core | — | Docker Essentials | | git | core | — | Git Essentials | | git | rebase-tldr | tldr | Git Rebase TLDR | | kubernetes | pod-troubleshooting-runbook | runbook | Kubernetes Pod Troubleshooting Runbook | | npm | core | — | npm Essentials | | vim | core | — | Vim Essentials | | web | performance-bookmarks | bookmarks | Web Performance Bookmarks |

All cheatsheets conform to the ChSON schema. For TypeScript types and the JSON Schema itself, see @chson/schema.
