osn — CiteNest sync agent
Version your research folder from any tool (Word, LaTeX, RStudio, Jupyter, Excel…). The agent watches files on disk and records every change to your CiteNest project — autosave by default, with named milestones when you want them.
Install
cd apps/cli && npm install
npm link # makes `cite` available globally (or run: node bin/osn.js)Use
cite login # sign in (stored in ~/.citenest/config.json)
cd ~/my-study # your research folder
cite init --new "My Study" # create + link a new (private) project
# or: cite init --repo <projectId> # link an existing project
cite status # see what changed
cite commit -m "Added week 3 results" # record a version
cite commit -m "Submission draft" --milestone
cite watch # auto-record every save while you work
cite pull # download the latest filesEvery file version is content-addressed (sha256) and deduplicated; each commit/autosave becomes a hash-chained entry in the project's tamper-evident history, with a downloadable version for every change. .citenest/ holds the link + last-synced state — add it to .gitignore if the folder is also a git repo.
