Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Evidence-backed goals, evaluator calibration, and convergence controls for Qi

Readme

@civaapple/qi-eval

Goal contracts, evidence-backed completion, evaluator calibration, and repeated-failure convergence.

Purpose

This package prevents confidence from becoming completion. GoalEngine persists assertions, evaluations, evidence, resource pressure, and control receipts. Evaluators produce pass, fail, or unknown under an explicit trust model.

Non-goals

  • It does not execute corrective actions.
  • A semantic judge is not trusted merely because it returned a confident answer.
  • Resource exhaustion is not silently converted into task failure or success.

Core model

A Goal contains assertions and completion policy. Evidence is typed and linked to an assertion. Deterministic evaluators can provide direct results; semantic evaluators require calibrated identity. Failure fingerprints normalize equivalent failures so stagnation can force strategy change or parking.

Behavioral invariants

  • Completion requires passing assertions backed by matching ledger evidence.
  • Uncalibrated semantic results remain recorded but project to unknown.
  • Judge identity includes kind, model/provider reference, prompt, rubric, toolchain, and version boundary.
  • Equivalent repeated failures trip stagnation despite volatile IDs, timestamps, or stack lines.
  • Resource exhaustion enters convergence and pauses rather than pretending completion.

Failure semantics

fail means evaluated evidence disproves an assertion; unknown means trustworthy judgment is unavailable. Budget exhaustion, judge mistrust, and stagnation are control states rather than ordinary executor errors.

Install and minimal use

npm install @civaapple/qi-eval
import { failureFingerprint } from "@civaapple/qi-eval";

const fingerprint = failureFingerprint({
  assertionId: "assert_tests",
  evaluatorIdentity: "deterministic:test",
  errorCode: "TEST_FAILED",
  targetResources: ["workspace:tests"],
});

Public API

GoalEngine, evaluator interfaces and implementations, EvaluatorCalibrationRegistry, and failureFingerprint().

Change guide

Any new evidence or evaluator type must define provenance, trust, replay, and completion impact. Update Kernel projection and goal tests before exposing it to the loop or UI.

Verification

tests/goal-eval.test.mjs covers completion, calibration, pressure, and stagnation.
