Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@clawfetch/mcp

MCP (Model Context Protocol) server for ClawFetch — Web Intelligence API for AI Agents.

Gives any MCP-compatible client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, OpenClaw, etc.) instant access to ClawFetch's web intelligence tools: fetch pages as markdown, render JS-heavy SPAs, extract structured data from 17+ site types, research topics multi-source, and check domain availability.

Payments are handled automatically via the x402 protocol — USDC on Base. No API keys, no billing dashboards.

☁️ Hosted Mode (Recommended)

Connect directly to the hosted MCP server — no installation required:

Endpoint: https://mcp.clawfetch.ai/mcp

Claude Desktop

Add to claude_desktop_config.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clawfetch": {
      "type": "url",
      "url": "https://mcp.clawfetch.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

Cursor / Windsurf

Add to your MCP configuration:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clawfetch": {
      "url": "https://mcp.clawfetch.ai/mcp"
    }
  }
}

OpenClaw

mcp:
  servers:
    clawfetch:
      url: https://mcp.clawfetch.ai/mcp

Note: The hosted server handles x402 payments server-side. Tools that require payment (fetch, render, extract, research) will charge USDC on Base per call. Free tools (health_check, wallet_info, list_extractors) work without payment.

💻 Self-Hosted Mode

Run your own instance with full control over the payment wallet.

Install

npm install -g @clawfetch/mcp

Configure (stdio — for local MCP clients)

Add to your MCP client config (e.g., Claude Desktop):

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "clawfetch": {
      "command": "clawfetch-mcp",
      "env": {
        "CLAWFETCH_PRIVATE_KEY": "0xYOUR_ETHEREUM_PRIVATE_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

The private key signs x402 micropayments (USDC on Base). Fund the corresponding address with USDC on Base mainnet.

Run as HTTP Server

Expose the MCP server over HTTP for remote clients:

CLAWFETCH_PRIVATE_KEY=0x... CLAWFETCH_TRANSPORT=http CLAWFETCH_PORT=3001 clawfetch-mcp

This starts a server at http://localhost:3001/mcp using the Streamable HTTP transport (MCP spec compliant).

HTTP Endpoints

| Endpoint | Method | Description | |----------|--------|-------------| | /mcp | POST | Initialize session — returns Mcp-Session-Id header | | /mcp | GET | SSE stream for server-to-client notifications (requires session ID) | | /mcp | DELETE | Close a session | | /health | GET | Server health check (JSON) |

Session Flow

  1. Initialize: POST /mcp with JSON-RPC initialize request → get Mcp-Session-Id header
  2. Call tools: POST /mcp with Mcp-Session-Id header + JSON-RPC tools/call request
  3. Stream: GET /mcp?sessionId=... for SSE notifications (optional)
  4. Close: DELETE /mcp with Mcp-Session-Id header
