Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@cleverapps/secrets-client

v1.0.1

Published

Client for the infiscal secrets service: get a secret by key, a batch by keys, or resolve secrets:// references in a json, with a ttl cache

Readme

Installation

npm i @cleverapps/secrets-client

Usage

The client talks to the infiscal secrets service (cleverapps/microservices/infiscal): secrets.cleverappssg.com, secrets.labsystech.ru (release) or secrets-staging.labsystech.ru (staging). Keys are <project>.<field>, e.g. mergecraft.instantAppSecret, common.xsollaAuthKey.

const SecretsClient = require("@cleverapps/secrets-client"); // or require("cleverapps/common/secrets-client") inside the monorepo

const secrets = new SecretsClient({
    url: process.env.secretsApiURL,
    token: process.env.secretsToken,
    ttl: 300 // seconds a value stays in the cache, default 300; 0 = no cache
});

One secret

const value = await secrets.get("mergecraft.instantAppSecret"); // undefined when the key is unknown

Several secrets in one request

const { values, missing } = await secrets.list(["mergecraft.instantAppSecret", "common.xsollaAuthKey"]);
// values = { "mergecraft.instantAppSecret": "...", "common.xsollaAuthKey": "..." }, missing = []

Resolve a whole json: every string secrets://<project>/<key> (or secrets://<project>.<key>) is replaced in place, all of them in one request. Unresolved references are kept as they are and listed in missing.

const config = {
    instant: { appId: "229012", appSecret: "secrets://mergecraft/instantAppSecret" },
    xsolla: { authKey: "secrets://common/xsollaAuthKey" }
};

const { missing } = await secrets.resolve(config);

SecretsClient.collectRefs(config);   // ["secrets://mergecraft/instantAppSecret", "secrets://common/xsollaAuthKey"] - the references, without resolving

Values come back as stored - a string, or a json object when the secret is one. Values are cached for ttl seconds, parallel requests for the same key share one HTTP call, a missing key is never cached. Transport errors, timeouts (timeout option, default 10s) and non-2xx answers other than 404 throw. secrets.clear() drops the cache.

Test

npm test
