Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Readme

@clous/cli

The official command-line interface for Clous. Compile schemas, generate type-safe database SDKs, and synchronize with the Clous Web Panel.

Installation

npm install -g @clous/cli
# or locally inside your project:
npm install -D @clous/cli

Node.js 20 or higher is required.

Local Commands (Offline / No Login Required)

These commands work 100% offline without an internet connection or Clous account.

1. Initialize a Project

Creates a starter schema.ts file with users, posts, foreign keys, and Row Level Security (RLS) policies:

clous init

2. Compile Schema (Code & DDL Generation)

Reads schema.ts and generates:

  • PostgreSQL DDL with RLS (generated/schema.sql)
  • TypeScript type definitions (generated/db-types.d.ts)
  • OpenAPI 3.0 specification (generated/openapi.json)
clous generate
# Custom schema path or output directory:
clous generate --schema ./src/schema.ts --out ./src/generated

3. Validate Schema

Performs semantic and relation checks on your schema file without emitting files:

clous validate

4. Watch Mode (Automatic Recompilation)

Watches your schema.ts file and recompiles immediately upon save:

clous dev

Cloud Commands (Web Panel Synchronization)

These commands connect your local development workflow to the Clous Web Panel.

1. Login

Authenticate via browser or with a Personal Access Token:

# Interactive browser login:
clous login

# Headless / CI/CD login:
clous login --token clous_pat_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

2. Whoami

Inspect your active authenticated session:

clous whoami

3. Link Project

Link your local project directory to a remote project created on the Web Panel:

clous link --project-id prj_123456 --name "My Project"

4. Status

Display the full environment status including authentication, linked project, and local schema:

clous status

5. Logout

Clear stored credentials from your local machine:

clous logout

For automated CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI), you can configure the CLI without interactive prompts:

| Variable | Description | |---|---| | CLOUS_ACCESS_TOKEN | Personal access token for authenticating cloud commands | | CLOUS_API_URL | Override Web Panel / Control Plane API URL (default: https://clous.dev) | | CLOUS_CONFIG_DIR | Custom directory for credentials storage |
