Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@code.ae/cli

v0.2.11

Published

code.ae CLI — a sovereign coding CLI: keyless OAuth, shared sessions, durable memory/floor, and data-residency egress control, with the code.ae engine.

Readme

code.ae

A sovereign coding CLI. Keyless sign-in, durable project memory, data-residency controls, and shared sessions — with the codeae command on your PATH.

Install

One line, no gotchas:

# Windows (PowerShell)
irm https://code.ae/install.ps1 | iex
# macOS / Linux
curl -fsSL https://code.ae/install.sh | sh

Or straight from npm:

npm install -g codeae-cli@latest --force

(--force overwrites the codeae bin shim, so re-running to update never fails with EEXIST. Once installed, codeae upgrade updates for you.)

The codeae command lands on your PATH. Works in PowerShell, cmd, and any POSIX shell.

Use codeae-cli (not @code.ae/cli) on Windows: PowerShell treats a leading @ as its splatting operator, so npm i -g @code.ae/cli errors. codeae-cli is the same CLI under a plain name. (@code.ae/cli also works if you quote it: npm i -g "@code.ae/cli".)

Troubleshooting

  • npm.ps1 cannot be loaded ... running scripts is disabled — your PowerShell blocks all scripts (npm included). Fix it once: Set-ExecutionPolicy -Scope CurrentUser RemoteSigned, then re-run the install. (Or install from cmd.exe instead of PowerShell.)
  • code E404 on @code-ae/... — the package is @code.ae/cli (a dot, not a hyphen), or just use codeae-cli.
  • EEXIST … codeae.ps1 … file already exists — a leftover bin shim from a previous install. Add --force: npm install -g codeae-cli@latest --force.

Use

codeae login # sign in (OAuth, no API key)
codeae # start / resume a session in the current folder
codeae run "<task>" # run one task and exit
codeae doctor # check install, auth, connectivity
codeae --help # all commands

What you get

  • Keyless OAuth sign-in — no API keys to manage; codeae login and go.
  • Multi-account profilescodeae profile use <name> to switch accounts.
  • Durable memory + project floor — verified facts and decisions persist across sessions and survive context compaction.
  • Data-residency egress control — MCP tools are deny-by-default; you allow only the servers you trust with CODEAE_MCP_ALLOW.
  • Scoped project rules.codeae/rules/*.md with @include and per-file globs, on top of native AGENTS.md.
  • Local usage metercodeae usage (private; never leaves your machine).
  • Cross-device handoffcodeae handoff export / import to continue a session on another machine.

Requirements

Node.js 18+. The platform engine is installed automatically for your OS.
