Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Detection coverage

  • .unity scene files stay visible as file nodes and emit GameObject and Component Symbol Nodes.
  • .prefab files stay visible as file nodes and emit GameObject and Component Symbol Nodes.
  • MonoBehaviour components resolve their C# script names through Unity .meta GUID files when those files are present in the workspace.
  • Unity containment emits contains edges from the scene or prefab file node to GameObject, and from GameObject to Component.
  • MonoBehaviour script references emit reference edges to the resolved C# script file.
  • Unity asset references use the standard reference edge row for resolved scripts, prefab instances, and serialized asset fields.
  • Unity persistent calls use the standard event edge row for serialized scene and prefab event bindings to C# methods.
  • Unity file groups ship icon-backed defaults for scenes, prefabs, serialized assets, materials, assembly definitions, and input actions.
  • Unity generated folders and IDE/build artifacts are filtered by default, including Library, Temp, Logs, ProjectSettings, UserSettings, .meta, generated project files, and common build outputs.

The plugin does not depend on the Unity Editor. It reads Unity's text-serialized YAML and .meta files directly.

Graph Scope

The Unity plugin contributes a Unity Graph Scope group with these rows:

  • GameObject
  • Component

These rows are disabled by default and appear when the Unity plugin is applicable to the indexed workspace. Scenes and prefabs use their normal file nodes rather than duplicate Unity-specific symbol rows.

Turning the Unity plugin off removes these Unity-specific rows, plugin default filters, plugin nodes, and Unity-sourced edges from the graph. Core C# analysis still runs for .cs files, including MonoBehaviour scripts, so normal C# symbols and relationships remain available without the Unity plugin.

Unity contributes the core event edge row when the plugin is enabled. Toggle Events on to inspect serialized callbacks such as Button.onClick or custom UnityEvent fields that invoke methods without a normal C# call site.
