Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@codetik/cli

Build tiks in your own repo and publish them to Codetik.

A tik is a micro app built with web technologies, running inside Codetik on iOS, Android, the web, and embedded in other apps. One publish reaches all of them in seconds.

Most start small: a game, a toy, a calculator, one screen that does one thing well. It runs on the device, offline, with nothing to host and nothing to configure. From there a tik can know who is looking at it and keep their score, take its own realtime database so two people can play at once, or borrow the viewer's own AI model with their consent.

Install

npm install -g @codetik/cli

Node 20.19+ or 22.12+ on macOS, Linux or Windows.

Get started

codetik login # paste an API key from the Codetik app: Settings, Account, API keys
codetik new snake # scaffold a tik and register it
codetik dev # edit the code, see it live in a phone frame
codetik publish # a draft on the server; --live releases it

codetik about tells the longer version, and codetik ideas lists starting points with a full prompt each.

Commands

| command | | | -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- | | codetik new <folder> | scaffold the folder and register the tik | | codetik dev | the tik in a phone frame, with a real window.tik | | codetik check [--fix] | types, formatting, assets | | codetik build | build locally, with the harness the server builds with | | codetik publish [--live] | draft by default, --live releases it | | codetik set | title, description, tags, category, visibility | | codetik backend | publish the realtime database module on its own | | codetik skill | install the codetik skill where a coding agent loads it | | codetik whoami | the account and plan your key belongs to |

codetik --help lists them all. Every command works non-interactively with --no-input or CI=true, and every one takes --json.

Building with a coding agent

codetik skill installs the codetik skill where Claude Code loads it from, so /codetik can explain what a tik may do, the window.tik API, grants, backends and the asset budget. A scaffolded tik carries the same brief as AGENTS.md, for whatever agent reads the folder.
