Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@cognelis/mongodb-cli

v0.4.0

Published

MongoDB CLI derived from the MongoDB MCP server, with per-profile access modes, diagnostics, and shell completion.

Readme

@cognelis/mongodb-cli

MongoDB queries, aggregations, schema inspection, guarded writes, read-only profiles, connection diagnostics, and shell completion for terminals, scripts, and coding agents.

Derived from the official MongoDB MCP server (mongodb-mcp-server). The MCP server does not support multiple profiles: its read-only mode applies to the whole server. Its tools were therefore re-implemented by hand as this CLI, whose named profiles each carry their own access mode, so a test profile can allow writes while production stays read-only.

npm install -g @cognelis/mongodb-cli
mongodb-cli version --output json
mongodb-cli init

The npm package installs a prebuilt native executable. No Rust toolchain is required. It supports macOS 12 or newer, Linux with glibc 2.35 or newer and libdbus-1, and Windows on x64 and ARM64. Alpine/musl requires a source build. Persistent Linux credentials also require an available Secret Service; CI jobs can use MONGODB_URI (and MONGODB_CLI_ACCESS=read-write when writes are intended) from their secret store. Installation downloads the matching release binary and requires a valid SHA-256 checksum; network and integrity failures are reported instead of running an unverified file. If lifecycle scripts are disabled, the launcher retries installation on first use.

mongodb-cli --profile prod doctor --output json
# Continue after doctor succeeds.
mongodb-cli --profile prod --output json documents find shop orders --limit 5
mongodb-cli skills install

Profiles are read-only unless they were created with --access read-write, and destructive commands also require --yes.

For zsh completion in the current shell:

autoload -Uz compinit && compinit
source <(mongodb-cli completion zsh)

Human-readable output is the default on a terminal. Use --output json for scripts and agents, and inspect the exit code and pagination metadata. The launcher passes arguments, standard streams, and process exit status through to the Rust CLI.
