Compresso CLI
Public packaging and verified native distribution for Compresso — a local-first context intelligence layer for AI coding tools. Compresso gives coding agents the smallest useful context, explains every reduction, and safely passes through the original input whenever uncertainty is too high.
Full source, architecture, and plan live in the main repository: https://github.com/yogi100x/compresso
What this repository is
This repo contains only the public distribution boundary:
bin/compresso— a dependency-free POSIX launcher (no Node.js at runtime, no install/postinstall/prepare lifecycle scripts)vendor/<target>/— per-target directories that receive the signed native engine binary and itsartifact.manifestverify/— the release verification script and trust policy used to check artifact signatures and checksums before anything runs- npm package definition for
@compresso/cli
The engine source is developed in the main repository; releases are imported here through a signed private-to-public release process.
Status
Beta, pre-publish. The checked-in artifact.manifest files are intentionally unpopulated so an incomplete scaffold fails closed instead of running an unverified artifact. The npm package (@compresso/cli) is published once signed artifacts land.
Supported targets
- macOS Apple Silicon (
darwin-arm64) - macOS Intel (
darwin-x64) - Linux x86-64 with glibc (
linux-x64)
Install (once published)
npm install -g @compresso/cli
compresso setup codex .The launcher selects the vendored artifact for your platform, verifies it against the manifest, and replaces itself with the native process. It creates no mutable or temporary state and exposes its path via COMPRESSO_LAUNCHER_PATH so package-manager symlinks stay stable across upgrades.
Verifying a release
./verify/verify-release.shVerification checks artifact signatures and SHA-256 checksums against verify/trust-policy.json. Bundled checks detect corruption or tampering; they are not a substitute for obtaining packages from trusted registries.
Privacy
Compresso is local by default: no telemetry, no account requirement for local features, and source code or prompt content never leaves your device by default.
License
Proprietary beta software — see LICENSE. The distribution scaffolding in this repository is published for auditability of what gets installed on your machine.
