Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

config-plugins/ffmpeg-kit-react-native

Config plugin to auto-configure ffmpeg-kit-react-native when the native code is generated (npx expo prebuild).

Versioning

| expo | ffmpeg-kit-react-native | @config-plugins/ffmpeg-kit-react-native | | ------ | ------------------------- | ----------------------------------------- | | 51.0.0 | 6.0.2 | ^8.0.0 | | 50.0.0 | 6.0.2 | ^7.0.0 | | 49.0.0 | 5.1.0 | ^6.0.0 | | 48.0.0 | 5.1.0 | ^5.0.0 | | 47.0.0 | 5.1.0 | ^4.0.0 | | 46.0.0 | 4.5.2 | ^3.0.0 | | 45.0.0 | 4.5.1 | ^2.0.0 |

Expo installation

Tested against Expo SDK 50. Most packages worked on iOS. Not all packages have been tested on Android.

This package cannot be used in the "Expo Go" app because it requires custom native code.

First install the package with yarn, npm, or npx expo install.

npx expo install ffmpeg-kit-react-native @config-plugins/ffmpeg-kit-react-native

After installing this npm package, add the config plugin to the plugins array of your app.json or app.config.js:

{
  "expo": {
    "plugins": ["@config-plugins/ffmpeg-kit-react-native"]
  }
}

Next, rebuild your app as described in the "Adding custom native code" guide.

API

The plugin provides props for extra customization. Every time you change the props or plugins, you'll need to rebuild (and prebuild) the native app. If no extra properties are added, defaults will be used.

  • package (string): Package to use. Options are: min, min-gpl, https, https-gpl, audio, video, full, full-gpl. Learn more.
  • ios.package (string): Specify an iOS-only package.
  • android.package (string): Specify an Android-only package.

Example

{
  "plugins": [
    [
      "@config-plugins/ffmpeg-kit-react-native",
      {
        "package": "min",
        "ios": {
          "package": "video"
        }
      }
    ]
  ]
}

Important Notes

  • This plugin changes the minimum deployment target on Android to 24 (from 21) which may break other packages in your app!
  • Changing the "package" field on iOS will require re-running pod install after updating with npx expo prebuild -p ios --no-install.
  • Most of the modifications in this plugin are dangerous meaning it's highly likely that something may break over time. The plugin is heavily unit-tested to attempt to prevent breaking.
