Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

ConfigDirector Nuxt SDK

npm

Nuxt SDK for ConfigDirector, remote config and feature flags with typed values, JSON Schema validation, and safe renames of live flags. Start free, no card required.

Install

npm install --save @configdirector/nuxt-sdk

Retrieve a value

// nuxt.config.ts
export default defineNuxtConfig({
  modules: ["@configdirector/nuxt-sdk"],
  runtimeConfig: {
    public: { configdirector: { clientSdkKey: "YOUR-CLIENT-SDK-KEY" } },
    configdirector: { serverSdkKey: "YOUR-SERVER-SDK-KEY" },
  },
});
<script setup lang="ts">
const { value: darkMode } = useConfigDirectorValue("dark-mode", false);
</script>

Full details are in the official documentation.

Test your code

@configdirector/nuxt-sdk/testing creates a real client connected to an in-memory server that your test controls. Install it before the Nuxt app is created, at the top level of a test file or a vitest setup file, and the ConfigDirector plugin provides it to the app instead of building a client. Tests run in the nuxt environment of @nuxt/test-utils 4 (which needs vitest 4).

import { nextTick } from "vue";
import { mountSuspended } from "@nuxt/test-utils/runtime";
import { createTestClient, installTestClient } from "@configdirector/nuxt-sdk/testing";
import Checkout from "~/components/Checkout.vue";

const testClient = createTestClient({ values: { "dark-mode": true } });
installTestClient(testClient);

test("renders the dark mode", async () => {
  const component = await mountSuspended(Checkout);
  expect(component.text()).toContain("dark-mode: true");

  testClient.setValue("dark-mode", false);
  await nextTick();
  expect(component.text()).toContain("dark-mode: false");
});

@nuxt/test-utils 4 creates the app once per test file, inside a beforeAll hook, so install at module level rather than in a hook, and reset the values between tests with replaceValues. @nuxt/test-utils 3 creates the app before the test file loads, so the plugin cannot see a test client installed there; upgrade to use the testing entry. While installed, the plugin needs no clientSdkKey. Await nextTick() after setValue, removeValue, and replaceValues. The test client also holds or fails initialize and updateContext, and records every context in contextUpdates.
