Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

axs — Noxs Agent web UI

One command, one URL: npx @crossberryweb/axs starts the Noxs Agent control center — a React web UI served from your machine at http://localhost:4170 — and opens it for you. On a Noxs device terminal it opens in the Noxs floating browser (same bridge as nx ow); on Windows, macOS or Linux it opens the system default browser. Works from any OS shell: cmd, PowerShell, bash, zsh, sh.

Naming note: the bare npm name axs is taken (an unrelated React styling package), so the agent UI ships scoped as @crossberryweb/axs with the command name axs — exactly like @crossberryweb/nx does for nx.

Run it

npx @crossberryweb/axs # start + open the UI at localhost
npx @crossberryweb/axs --no-open # start, just print the URL
npm install -g @crossberryweb/axs # or install once...
axs # ...and run `axs` from any shell

Requires Node.js >= 16. Zero runtime dependencies (Node built-ins only; the React UI is pre-bundled).

What the UI does

  • Plugin registry — lists every Noxs plugin from crossberry-in/nx-pkg with its npm-published version (@crossberryweb/noxs-*).
  • One-click install — runs npm install -g @crossberryweb/noxs-<id> from the UI with a live log panel; installed versions are detected via npm ls -g.
  • Update awareness — cards show installed vX -> vY when a newer npm version exists.
  • Environment chips — axs/node/platform versions, server uptime, and whether the Noxs browser bridge is available on this machine.
  • Shell cheat-sheet — copy-paste commands for axs, nx ow, and direct npm i -g installs.

Options

| Option | Effect | | ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- | | -p, --port <n> | port (default 4170; busy ports auto-scan up to +49) | | --host <addr> | bind address (default 127.0.0.1; use 0.0.0.0 for LAN) | | --no-open | headless start — do not open any browser | | -v, --version | print version | | -h, --help | help |

HTTP API (localhost only)

| Endpoint | Method | Purpose | | -------------------- | ------ | ------------------------------------------------ | | /api/health | GET | axs/node/platform/uptime info | | /api/packages | GET | registry packages + npm latest versions (60s cache) | | /api/installed | GET | globally installed @crossberryweb/* packages | | /api/install | POST | { "id": "<plugin-id>" } → job id | | /api/jobs/:id | GET | job status + output tail | | /api/bridge | GET | Noxs floating-browser bridge availability |

Install requests are validated against the registry (unknown ids and path traversal are rejected) and the server binds 127.0.0.1 by default.
