Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.1.0

nx - Noxs command line, portable edition: plugin registry, sha256-verified downloads, file-cloud login (nx plugin login/auth), plugin scaffolding (nx plugin init/push), pkg info, URL opening. Windows, macOS, Linux.

Readme

nx — Noxs command line, portable edition

The Noxs terminal nx command, packaged for every OS. Install it once with npm and run the Noxs plugin/package tooling from any shell — Windows (cmd, PowerShell), macOS (zsh/bash), Linux (bash/zsh/fish). Zero runtime dependencies: pure Node.js built-ins.

Install

npm install -g @crossberryweb/nx

or run it without installing:

npx @crossberryweb/nx plugins

Two commands are registered: nx and noxs-nx (identical). Use noxs-nx if you also have the unrelated "Nx" build system installed globally and want to avoid a shim collision.

Commands

| Command | What it does | |---|---| | nx plugins | List every plugin in the Noxs plugin registry (id, version, description) | | nx info <plugin-id> | Show one plugin's metadata: version, release artifact, SHA-256 | | nx install <id> [dir] | Download the plugin artifact and verify its SHA-256 before saving it | | nx pkg info <name\|user/repo> | Inspect a noxs-pkg style package registry (versions, architectures) | | nx ow <url> | Open a URL — the Noxs floating browser on a Noxs device, the default browser elsewhere | | nx version | Print the CLI version | | nx help | Show usage |

Examples

nx plugins
nx info payload-lab
nx install code ./plugins
nx pkg info some-package # noxs-pkg/<name> registry
nx pkg info owner/repo # any GitHub-hosted pkg registry
nx ow https://example.com

Security model

Same rules as the on-device nx:

  • Registry metadata is treated strictly as data; artifact URLs are only accepted when they point at the official GitHub release asset path.
  • Every downloaded artifact is hashed with SHA-256 and compared against the checksum published in the registry manifest. Mismatches are deleted.
  • Only https:// URLs are fetched. Plugin ids and file names are validated against strict patterns before use.

Environment overrides

| Variable | Default | Purpose | |---|---|---| | NX_PLUGINS_OWNER / NX_PLUGINS_REPO | crossberry-in / nx-pkg | Source repo of the plugin registry | | NX_OFFICIAL_ORG | noxs-pkg | Org assumed by nx pkg info <name> |
