Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

☰ 🃏 Datalayer Decks Plugin AI Agents

An AI agent beside the decks: a frontend plugin for a Reactor host that already mounts @datalayer/decks/plugin. It puts a floating chat in the host's root slot with the Decks agent in it — the example-decks agentspec from agentspecs, the reference deck agent. (worker-pitcher, the landing's deck editor agent, is its pitch-deck sibling: the same frontend toolset, a different trade.)

datalayer decks serve talk.yaml --reactor-plugins ai-agents

What it does, and does not, declare

The plugin declares no tools. The decks plugin contributes its commands to the reactor's AgentTools point — list, read, create, replace, edit a slide, open, move through, present, print — and this plugin reads that point and hands the agent every one of them, run on the page through the reactor's command registry (useAgentCommandTools from agent-runtimes). Switch the decks plugin off and the agent has no tools; that is the point of reading rather than declaring.

The agent

  • Spec: example-decks — its prompt (the deck data model, the tools, how to draft and change a deck), model, name, icon, welcome and suggestions. Both it and worker-pitcher name the decks frontend toolset (agentspecs/frontend-tools/decks.yaml), so either can be named through the plugin's agentId configuration.
  • Harness: agent-runtimes' browser harness — the loop runs in the page, no runtime is started.
  • Key: a temporary key — an anonymous session the Datalayer inference service grants a visitor for a while, shown counting down in the chat's header — or the signed-in person's own token when there is one (useBrowserInference). Which service: DATALAYER_AI_INFERENCE_URL on the host, passed to the interface through GET /config; the harness's default otherwise.

The same shape as the reactor's examples/cms-astro/ai-agents, as a plugin rather than a mount hook: the host names it and the reactor does the rest.

How a host activates it

The datalayer decks app bundles the plugin but leaves it off. The server answers GET /config with the plugins it was started with (--reactor-plugins, repeatable or comma-separated), and app/src/App.tsx builds the named ones into the reactor (OPTIONAL_PLUGINS). A name this build does not know is logged and skipped.

Layout
