Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

It is a fork of ts-node package.

Feature: ESM Glob Imports

You can use a glob pattern for imports, like '../../modules/*.ts' or '../../meta/**/*.ts'.

Such import returns default value, which is an object, where key is a resolved path and value is a loaded module.

For example, let us take such src folder structure:

  • index.ts
  • commands
    • user
      • firstUserCommand.ts
      • secondUserCommand.ts
    • admin
      • firstAdminCommand.ts
      • secondAdminCommand.ts
// commands/user/firstUserCommand.ts

export const action = 'first'
export const limit = 10
// commands/user/secondUserCommand.ts

export const action = 'second'
export const limit = 25
// commands/admin/firstAdminCommand.ts

export const action = 'first'
export default 'some default value'
// commands/admin/secondAdminCommand.ts

export const action = 'second'
export default 'another default value'

Then, usage:

// index.ts

// @ts-expect-error Glob Import
import commands from './commands/**/*.ts'

commands would be this:

{
  './commands/admin/firstAdminCommand.ts': {
    action: 'first',
    default: 'some default value'
  },
  './commands/admin/secondAdminCommand.ts': {
    action: 'second',
    default: 'another default value'
  },
  './commands/user/firstUserCommand.ts': {
    action: 'first',
    limit: 10
  },
  './commands/user/secondUserCommand.ts': {
    action: 'second',
    limit: 25
  }
}

You can also use dynamic imports, you might want to do something like this:

// index.ts

const load = async () => {
  // @ts-expect-error Glob Import
  const commands = (await import('./commands/**/*.ts')).default as ...

  return commands
}

[!NOTE] To resolve imports, there's a folder named .ts_node_temp will be created everytime you run ts-node. Add this folder to your .gitignore.

[!IMPORTANT] Do not forget that JavaScript does not support glob imports by itself. Thus, you need to implement a plugin for your build stage that does the same mapping for glob imports as this fork of ts-node does. If such mapping does not work for you, just go here and over here, then change the output.
